I am not a rap guy, but there's something so smooth, interesting and intelligent about Shad. His first album still rules the genre for me.

That is so interesting Shad has your favorite rap album. And amazing! I highly recommend you check out Kendrick Lamar's good kid or butterfly records. Have you seen the history of hip hop netflix show that shad hosts?

Never really been captivated by another rap artist. I mean, there are songs that are catchy as all can be, but never as a whole. I think there is a geographical connection with Shad (I am a Canadian and have lived in similar areas), so a lot of the references feel relatable. His voice and delivery is smooth. He doesn’t play a part. He kind of uses his intelligence, cleverness and desire for social justice as a backbone. I just find it cool. Plus a touch of flare from outside the style I think.

After listening to and listening to some of his records a ton, he was a guest on a musical special I worked on. All sorts of very popular Alt Rock, rock, indie guests, that everyone would love. Shad was a guest on a song, and basically stole the show with a total freestyle. Nice guy to all the camera/production crew and artists. Just totally impressed. I know he did the q for a while but I didn’t really listen to him on it and I didn’t know he had another show. I gotta credit the guy because he doesn’t strike me as an attention seeker and more in love with the art.

    Sorry for the long answer.

I love long answers! Thanks for sharing your story about Shad. He definitely deserves more recognition. At The Same Time always makes me tear up.

    Good storyteller too.

I listen to a lot of very different bands but often having roots in punk rock, indie rock, folk and a bunch of those genres. I guess I grew up with a lot of oldies and alt rock too.

Occasionally something clicks with with an outta wheelhouse genre artist an that’s kinda fun.
