Wow, brutal. I thought for sure that all the reactions in here were to the near seppuku cause that had my heart racing big time. It's so much worse though because that lulled me into a false sense of security and then the end was such a gutpunch.
Explain because I’m dumb who do the shinobi work for? Yabushige? who were they attacking aside from Mariko?
Pretty sure they were working for Ishido connecting it to his message to Yabushige earlier where he offered him a way to avoid death by helping him.
One thing, I know that the show is trying to make Blackthorne less of a focus but I do wish they would have kept some small things from book that I feel like gave him more character, like getting into his backstory of him serving under Francis Drake during the Spanish Armada or him recounting the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table to Toranaga
Damn I'm continually impressed with the show and can feel intention behind all the writing. Nothing feels inessential. Exposition doesn't feel clumsy. The emotional moments hit hard. Just great stuff all around.
My heart was pounding multiple times that ep. When Mariko was giving it to Ishido I was so scared AND proud of her
