I'd say equating not being allowed to r*pe with gender discrimination is the best example I've ever seen of the adage that "to the privileged, equality feels like oppression".

I was obviously never a supermodel, but the way so many male photographers and designers behaved on set was a huge reason I retired. When I was just starting out, I started working with a tiny agency in the Bay Area - I don't even remember the name now - and they threatened to blacklist me when I sent them screenshots from a conversation I had with a photographer who booked me to do a shoot because the shoot was for a clothing line and he ended up telling me he was going to need me to get naked, and told me when I said I didn't shoot nude that I'd been brainwashed by the patriarchy and shouldn't be ashamed of my body, and that he'd worked with a lot of models who were "shy" before and he always "got what he wanted in the end". So I bailed on the shoot, reported him and they dropped me.

Luckily for me, they were small potatoes and I doubt I lost a single gig because of them. But still... I'll never forget it. It was a horrifying conversation and experience.
