Michael Chernus (Ricken) is incredible as John Wayne Gacy in Peacock’s Devil In Disguise miniseries. For those curious, it is nowhere near as exploitative as Ryan Murphy’s Monster miniseries. Definitely victim-first which is an important distinction to Murphy’s “let’s show every assault and crime on screen” approach.
It’s possible they’re delaying it so that it can be a Severance season 3/Chair Company season 2 crossover season.
update: Turturro said they start filming in July. https://www.forbes.com/sites/paulta...ws-about-the-severance-season-3-release-date/
Apple Acquires 'Severance', Eyes Season 3 Start & Season 4 (Exclusive) interesting read from Deadline. apparently Apple now owns all aspects of the show outright, as it acquired the rights from production company Fifth Season late last year (who will stay on as an executive producing partner). a similar thing happened with Silo between S1 and S2 when AMC transferred primary production rights to Apple Studios, but stayed on in a smaller capacity. the claim is that it'll help streamline production of the show without having to financially burden Fifth Season (who was apparently close to being in the red going into S2). the big takeaway is that the creative team and Apple believe the show will likely run at least 4 seasons (Erickson and Stiller are supposedly adamant about it ending at 4 unless something changes), with all parties potentially interested in a prequel or spin-off down the line if they feel compelled to do so. Kogonada will also join as a producing director starting next season, so it'll be interesting to see if he can do something interesting with the show.
the only big negative for me is that this probably decreases the chance of S3 and beyond (and maybe even S2) getting a physical release, which i'd love to place next to my Blu-ray for S1. but i'm just glad the show is even continuing at this point (and potentially at a quicker pace).
i'm hopeful they continue (they did just put out a disc for CODA), but i'm also cautiously optimistic, haha
