The S2 version of "fuck you mr millchick" was great. I hope that happens every season finale.

Did people get advanced copies of the finale? I was shocked that the finale ended at 10:30pm, and by 11pm there were bunch of 20 minute analyses videos on Youtube, with edits full of scene lifts from the episode.

Whole episode was fire. I loved everything that happened inside Lumon, but I would have watched 1.5 hours of just Mark with the camcorder.

Yeah, for the most part, TV shows issue screeners to notable media outlets. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes they only give part of a season, but it's not an unheard-of practice.

This makes sense. So that’s why they had her serving as a counselor on the severed floor, to establish an emotional connection between her and the other severed employees. Even the goat lady remembered her being kind. But it was ultimately Mark’s bond with her that was the lynchpin. Curious what MDR looks like next season now that Gemma is presumably going to take Outtie Mark’s place in trying to get him out of Lumon. They’re definitely not going to let Mark’s transgressions just slide (especially killing Drummond, which was deeply satisfying) and I’d be willing to be they’d find his attempts at reintegration worth exploring down below. Helly and Dylan have now rebelled multiple times and Irving is in the wind. Do they hide away Mark down below and experiment on him now as they did with Gemma, causing Helly and Dylan to refine Mark? Do we get new MDR employees? I can’t wait to find out.

I think one thing which would be helpful with S3 is an explanation of why they don't just "turn off" Innie Mark after all of this. Besides, you know, it would be a boring narrative if that's how Lumon cleared things up.

I just don’t really understand innie Mark’s motivation for staying at this point. What does he think is going to happen to him and Helly? He murdered someone in this ep lol, and he knows cold harbor was the last file so there’s no more “work” for him to do. They’re not going to just let him to return to business as usual…

If you knew you were going to die, would you rather do it alone? Or fight for the only thing of love you've ever known?

If I knew my body was going to live on and just have a different version of my consciousness living in it, I would choose that. Especially if the alternative likely involved torturing myself and the one that I loved for the rest of our lives.

I think we can extrapolate more from Mark and Mark S's conversation. Mark S was showing signs of jealousy to Mark, as his understanding unfolded he didn't seem to want give up whatever he could have with Helly for Mark and Gemma. The motivation was Helly.

I guess I get that the motivation “is” Helly, I just don’t buy any rational person choosing that option. Like, he wants to continue existing but at the cost of being completely imprisoned by this shady company who has not treated him well up to this point. Why does he even think they’ll let him continue seeing Helly? Now that he’s completed the work there is no reason for Helena to send her innie in there any more.

but at what end? they’re just going to stay on the severed floor the rest of their lives? the second she leaves and helena takes over, why would she ever return?

i also don’t get to what end the point of lumon doing any of this is? presumably for resurrection/eternal life purposes for the eagans but even then, like, wouldn’t they just have to find someone to recreate the whole process again? also didn’t answer any of the questions we have about the outside world - lumon seems to be known in the towns and have control and i’m not saying that it’s far fetched for the general public to not know what is going on inside but presumably they have to be providing some sort of good to the public that we just know nothing about?

I mean they are both currently down there in a big alarm situation. Maybe those 10-15 minutes with her is better than nothing? If I had to choose between dying with nothing, or dying fighting with the love of my life, i'd choose that.

what does milchik get out of this? we see this season him constantly butting up against lumon when outside of the severed floor - why the intense dedication to the job still while on it?

If he can get 1 more second of life, he’ll choose to take it and spend it with Helly R running down a hallway.

The show finally fully removes the nice palatable idea for us that you can root for both Marks because, even if iMark ceases to exist, giving up that existence or donating his memories to oMark is the correct, reasonable, right, fair thing to do and we can blissfully not think too hard about the implications. I think the show has allowed us to have the same idea of who Mark is as the people within the show, which is that oMark is the real Mark and iMark is a half-life, half-person and it’s universally accepted that he is in line to cease to exist to provide the correct happy ending for Mark.

But, now, that’s not the case. The innies finally got proper full autonomy as their own individual self with their own individual interests, whether it lasts for 2 seconds or 2 more seasons. The Helly R look at Gemma, for me, was loaded with both the self-righteousness and lack of apology that is normally coming from the outies towards the innies. Gemma was the one trapped outside begging while they lived inside.
