the only thing i've seen is that the runtime is supposedly well-earned, and that one review said it was on par with the S1 finale
we saw it with Helly in S1, and they mention other former MDR workers. the innie would fill out the resignation form, but it would need to be approved by their outie. they’ve always been able to submit the form, but now they no longer need their outies approval.
Just caught up with the last three episodes. What an insane amount of whiplash. I'm very excited to see this forum on Friday
yeah, reactions all seem to indicate this will be just as good as - if not better than - The We We Are
The thing I haven't understood wrt Cold Harbor theories being about drowning is why would Gemma be uniquely necessary for that? That seems like the kind of basic experiment you could run on anyone. It also fails to tie in all the infertility stuff they introduced to her story that Lumon was involved with, which is likely the reason they targeted Gemma in the first place. That dovetails thematically with whatever Lumon is up to at their birthing retreat. None of the rooms we saw had Gemma get subjected to grief in any real way. That feels like a pretty important hurdle that the chip would need to tackle, so I feel like it would make more sense for Cold Harbor to test that.
I could be wrong and they could lose the plot and go for a wacky twist but I think it’s going to be a very straightforward explanation, at least compared to the theories that are out there. Cold Harbor is going to be related to loss/grief and Gemma ‘dying’ will probably just be her original consciousness being turned off permanently or temporarily or something that isn’t actual death. Devon won’t be revealed to be a sleeper agent and Cobell won’t be anyone’s mom despite Patricia Arquette being older than the actresses that are normally given lead roles on TV shows. I don’t see anyone’s consciousness being implanted into a goat. Ricken isn’t a secret Eagan son. Etc.
This is where I am at. Performances and individual episodes are great, but something about the flow of the season feels off.
I don’t think the comparison should be to season 1, which was smaller in scope and had less strands to maintain. I think the comparison should be with other shows that open up their world and expand beyond the initial tight puzzle box format and have to start turning vague suggestions into hard details…and I think in that regard it’s been amazing. Westworld crashed and burned for me the second they tried opening up the world and I didn’t even bother after season 2.
I feel like some people really struggle when a show doesn't take the most direct path through the story
I’m leaving for Florida Thursday morning for a weekend getaway so probably won’t watch the finale until Sunday night or Monday. First World Problems.
Very excited for the finale. The more I think about it the more im kind of annoyed we've been faked out on reintegration twice now. Hopefully the finale will alleviate. A very small part of me is worried the season will end with Mark being reintegrated.
that tweet is so annoying lol structurally there's a problem ok thanks sir care to elaborate even slightly
I would be very surprised if he is fully reintegrated for more than a few minutes. I look at it like the superhero in the story getting their full powers. We think we want it early and often but really we just want it to be a tease that has one big fuck yeah moment or battle and we really want the struggle and complications that add the richness in a story. I think he is fully reintegrated and does something awesome or learns something horrific because of it and we see the fall out and what reintegration actually looks like next season.
in the spirit of Eagan Bingo, i made some finale Bingo cards for me, my partner, and my twin sister. will be fun to see what does and doesn't get crossed off.
#1 Free Bingo Card Generator - Play Online or Print Cards some of these were arbitrary and there's a chance none of them happen, lol. just having a little fun.
