How can anyone be let down by this episode when it contains the exquisite performance review scene?!

honestly unsure what some of y’all are carping about

 

I think everyone has been pretty reasonable? No one said it was bad, just that the season has had a lot of really good episodes and this was more of a cooldown.

 

Anyone else thinking Natalie is an Eagan in some way? No way they have someone in that position so close to the higher ups that isn’t in the family somehow, right?

The Ringer podcast talked about this scene and thought he was mostly just being antagonistic toward her. But it’s certainly possible, there is a theory that there a lot of Eagan “bastard” children, for lack of a better term.

Also do we really need to spoiler tag everything? If the season is actively airing and people are coming in here without watching, that’s on them.

 

It’s probably a result from when Game of Thrones was so popular and we had source text to pull potential future events from when discussing it. This is the complete opposite. It’s all theorizing.

Unless people are discussing trailer clips we haven’t seen yet because I know some people avoid them or leaked stuff then definitely tag it, but I really think anything that has been aired is fair game.

 

on this note, i've had a running theory that Cobel might be a bastard Eagan child (based on some of the things hinted via her Kier shrine), but i could be wrong.

 

Yeah I’ve heard similar and that she has almost been a sleeper agent while working for them. I would guess the breathing tube she has is her mothers and that the Eagan’s/Lumon didn’t do enough to help keep her alive.

how would you define sleeper agent in this context?

my theory is built primarily on what i've gathered from those clips, her insistence that only she can run the severed floor and bring Cold Harbor to completion, possibly her hesitancy to meet the board (although i agree with others here that she probably ran away out of fear that she'd be killed), and Patricia Arquette saying in interviews that Harmony sees the way Lumon is currently running as an aberration of Kier's teachings. i think her mother was impregnated by one of the Eagans, died either in childbirth or from some sort of condition when Harmony was a child, was placed in the care of the Myrtle Eagan school (partially as a way to hide her lineage), and is relying on her education and lineage (not sure when she would've learned about it) to try to potentially reshape the company in the way she thinks Kier would run it.

 

I don’t have a full thought out theory but the fact that she was secretly living next to and interacting with Mark’s outtie knowing he was important to Cold Harbor is interfering with what Lumon wanted to do whether out of sabotage or for her own self gain, or as you said in how she thought Kier wanted it to be. I don’t think we have gotten enough from her this season yet to fully know her motivations.

 

that's a good point. maybe i'm wrong, but i think it's probably clear that she's dedicated to Kier's teachings in a way that others aren't, and that the information we eventually get on her past will underscore that.
