Hey so am I the only one who didn't realize the Lumon area is it's own town/maybe even it's own country within the United States?

 

supposedly the Lumon we see is based on the town of Kier, PE. not sure what PE stands for (maybe Port Eagan?), but the ZIP code shown in Irv's outie's notes corresponds to NJ.

 

I guess there are a few locations that are within their own principalities.

 

Of course this shit would happen in Jersey

 

Why did I think it was in Colorado or something? Must have been the cabins and snow maybe.

I went and looked it up this is what a Reddit comment said:

The writers have said it’s meant to be vaguely New England-ish, but the official location is in the fictional state of PE.

They’ve also said that Kier as a city has been somewhat insulated from the rest of the world since the 1930s, causing a lot of the fashions, trends and vernacular to have become a little stagnant.

 

That explains why all the cars look similar in the parking lot.

 

It's filmed in the Catskills. I always thought the town was somewhere in like North Dakota or something.

I have felt it was the Pacific North West for a while now, but I find that it's its own entity entirely very interesting. Like, a pretty important part of the lore I missed out on.

 

Since the building is in NJ I always thought it was NJ even though the shooting location doesn’t mean anything lol

 

Upstate NY is what I assumed but I don't know if I got that in the show or from a post in here. The idea of a separate corporate state or whatever is intriguing.

 

It's wild of how much this corporate state being what people like Peter Thiel are trying to accomplish right now. I wonder how much of that was intended or it just aligned.

 

The concept of a company town is an old one. Gary, IN. Kholer, WI. Every one-plant-town in the midwest.

 

What are the main theories going around to what Irv's deal is? His outtie seems to know more about what is going on than other's do and he is strangely haunted by the dark hallway.

 

Main one I’ve seen is that he used to be a nonsevered employee like Cobel and Milchick. It makes the most sense.

 

As to why he’s doing what he’s doing outside and why he became severed, I’m not sure. I haven’t looked up too many fan theories about it yet.

 

I kind of thought of a half baked theory this morning when I was in between sleeping and awake about Irving: what if he was the one who was responsible for taking and severing Miss Casey? That is why he is dreaming about the black hallway
