A friend recommended this show to me recently and I just finished episode 3. Lumon is doing my girl Helly so dirty wtf >:((((
It’s a great show so far! I have nothing to do for the rest of the day so I may catch up to the most recent episode
Season 2 Episode 2 thoughts… Loved the new opening incorporating other characters. The tag feels inspired by Malignant and I love it. Outside Milchick is maybe more menacing than when he is on the severed floor. Helena rewatching Helly’s kiss with Mark was awesome as it seemed to elicit a genuine emotion and tenderness out of her. WHAT DOES COBEL KNOW ABOUT GEMMA?!
I can’t believe three years went by and I didn’t even once consider that folks at Ricken’s book reading might simply write “she’s alive” off as a comment about the baby There’s definitely something to be said for the way Lumon was so content to fire Dylan and Irving, but very deliberately coaxed Mark back, and then on top of that gave his innie what he wanted when he wouldn’t work. I’d never thought of it this way before, but it seems like Lumon may need Mark specifically for whatever work they’re doing down there, like he was chosen. Or at the very least has become integral. And now that we have confirmation that outie Mark identified Gemma’s body, it seems increasingly likely that the long standing cloning theory might be more than just a vibe based off of some mysterious baby goats
They should have dropped these first two episodes at once. This 2nd episode is giving me everything I was lacking in the premiere. Hell yeah, we’re back!
I need to rewatch to be sure, but I think they could have swapped the order of the first two episodes as both would work as an episode one. If true, I wonder how much debate took place on that before the final decision was made.
I don’t think it works if you watch episode 2 first. They lie to Mark’s innie and say it’s been 5 months when it was a weekend and act like Lumon has been completely overhauled. Plus the intrigue of the new team in episode 1 doesn’t work as well if you already saw 2 and know they don’t stick around very long.
I love that we got an innie reaction to the finale before an outtie reaction. But really, both episodes purposely pick up right where the finale left off just in different environments. A perfect yin and yang. Some of y'all should listen to the Severance podcast as they discuss the intentionality here.
