Did not really expect the single to sound like this. Between this track and the Apparition EP, I get the sense that he’s drifting away from the darker, ambient-industrial sound of his earlier stuff. That said, his voice has always carried his music and it’s as strong as ever here. Love the percussion on this one too.
Listening to soil atm. When I’m in the mood, it hits so good. Not sure about the new tracks, but they may sound better in the context of an album.
This didn’t really grab me like I was hoping on first listen, I think my favorites were all the pre-release tracks. Sailors Superstition was pretty cool too. Might just be a grower, but I felt myself tuning out during a lot of the other tracks
I like it. Nothing really stacks up to "Fellowship" but it also took me a bit to fully embrace that one. Absolutely wild to get a serpent album that feels like it could be a summer record, never would have expected it.
