Isn't Buddy a Buddhist? Title seems to fit. Sounds like it could be a track title on Pull The Thorns From Your Heart (which I hope this next one sounds nothing like).
Dan is back in just a recording capacity. Chris Hornbrook will still be the touring guy. I can't wait to hear his drumming again
Renacer is easily their best record in my eyes. I was so stoked for Thorns until I heard it and then I was immediately let down. The problem is Buddy tried to become the hardcore influences he has and wrote all the guitar parts himself which is just... not the best idea when you had amazing ax men like Matt Smith and Zac Roach. It sucks to look back on because it seems like everything was stacked to be triumphant. Renacer was beyond amazing and breathed new life into a dying band, they had an incredible line up, they signed to Pure Noise, and they were building a new fan base which was MUCH needed... then Thorns came out and a lot of the hype died. Now Buddy is trying to bring back the old Senses Fail sound and I couldn’t cringe any hard if I even wanted to. It’s going to be worse. The clips alone sound worse than all of Thorns.
As much as I enjoy Renacer, Still Searching will always be my favorite. It’s the perfect blend of hardcore and pop. Some extremely emotional tracks on there. But yeah I’m not very confident about this new one. While we are on the subject of upcoming Buddy Nielsen projects, I’m afraid the new Speak The Truth... album is going to fall flat also. The two singles were just alright. I feel the make-up is there for a very enjoyable pop record, but something just isn’t clicking.
Renacer is the king of the heavy Senses Fail sound, but Buddy writing the guitar parts for Thorns definitely held Thorns back from being something better. I still think it's a great record with too SF songs on it. It won't stick out as the best within the discography but I'll always appreciate it. Dan's one of my favorite drummers so I'll hold judgment until I hear full songs rather than clips.
Damn February feels like it's so far away. At least we're getting a Speak The Truth full length in November to hold us over though
Band - Speak The Truth Even If Your Voice Shakes it appears there's at least a band thread. depends on what you think of the songs haha. i loved crash and drowning, personally. not the strongest record lyrically but i think theres some really catchy hooks. it's a fun listen for me.
The clips I heard were (in my opinion) atrocious as hell so I have no hope... but I’ll still give it a chance like I did with Speak The Truth... Gave the record a full listen the other day and I personally hated it. Crash my Car is the only song I can like from a guilty pleasure standpoint. You’ll probably dig the new SF record.
id love another record in the vein of Fire, personally, but i do expect to like this one. the melodies in the clips were terrific i thought even if the lyrics were remarkably bad
I would love that. As much as I think Renacer was the peak of this band, the Fire is my 2nd fav album by them and mixed the hardcore with the poppy stuff a lot of fans seem to like.
