Buddy just posted in Bayonet's Facebook that they are back from the dead! Perfect timing of me asking I guess https://www.facebook.com/bayonetdoesntcare/
Honestly, as much as it bums me out about the new SF record- if we get a Bayonet full length that's on par (or even dare I say.. better?) with their EP? I'm totally happy and stoked.
I think I grew out of Let It Enfold You. It listened to that album so much for the like the first five years it was out, but don't think I've listened in probably close to a decade. Still Searching being released played a huge role in that though. Actually, I did the same thing and feel the exact same way about They're Only Chasing Safety.
Bayonet is a silver lining to SF turning back to their old style for sure, but man I'd still rather have a heavier SF and no Bayonet if I had a choice. With SF going the route they are going, are we still going to get a Speak the Truth record?
Yeah they're mixing their record right now but I didn't like those songs off the EP much. Too cringing IMO. But yeah... I'd rather have Renacer pt. II at the end of the day but Bayonet is more than fine with me. Would be wild if Dan came back to play drums on it. He was going to drum on the initial full length Buddy scraped back in 2012 when he ended up turning it all into Renacer.
I'm actually listening to TOCS right now – the "Time is running, it's running on empty" line randomly popped into my head this morning – and quite enjoying it. But I'm pretty sure the majority of my enjoyment is from nostalgia.
Super old news but its new to me, I didn't know there was a Renacer track by track commentary on Spotify. The one for Canine is interesting given the bands change in sounds back to LIEY. Buddy says they have done all that they can do with that sound and don't want to do it anymore. Canine was the first song they wrote for Renacer and gave them a new excitement about writing music and loved that direction. You think the sales/tour turnout for Renacer and Thorns compared to the LIEY/SS anniversary tours are a reason they decided to shift back?
Probably. On this site, it seems like most people love Renacer and that sound, but if you check comments on FB it paints a different picture for sure. I think if they put out another strong record like Renacer it could've made a difference too. Thorns was such a letdown
Buddy just posted this to Facebook: "There is a song on this new record that sounds like The Past Is Proof for those that liked that rare song get stoked!" He also stated the record will come out in early 2018 in the comments. Here's the song for reference(I had never heard it)
