Bud has a clip of the new single on his story and it’s pretty much what I expected buttttt I’m still looking forward to checking it out tomorrow.

 

Song is interesting - not in a bad way or anything like that :)

 

Just watched the YouTube premiere and I’m not feeling it much but that main riff is chill

Something I’ll like more and more with each listen.

 

I really miss the hooks these guys had in the LIEY/SS days. Still don't think they've been able to recapture that.

 

The main riff is super cool, but the song it's self isn't catchy imo.

Have loved this band for almost 20 years, not really in love with this single though or the vocals (too low as suggested above.) Still looking forward to new material though

wait, the new album doesnt come out until July 15 2022? So this is a single and preorder over a half a year away?

 

I listened last night just through my iPhone speakers and it came off as a demo sounding to me.

 

I saw this post and was like no way… then I checked and yup. This is getting out of hand.. I get that the vinyl pressing plants are insanely backed up but announcing a pre-order 8 months away is bonkers to me.

 

I didn’t enjoy most of If There is Light.. so I didn’t expect to enjoy the new material much anyways. Pretty sure I’m just gonna have to stick to the older records (mainly Renacer and The Fire).

Still holding out hope for a new Bayonet EP after Buddy teased it YEARS ago lol

 

The Fire was and is still so underrated. Probably their favorite record for me. Sure Let It Enfold You and Still Searching are classics, but The Fire had so much aggression. I personally did not like the darker turn of Reancer or Thorns and liked the return to form on If There is Light. I like Bayonet for what it was, even had it on vinyl. Sparks The Truth was just meh. The singles were great, but album lacked.

 

I think I paid $75 on Discogs for the Bayonet vinyl lmao

I just love it so much. I personally prefer the sound of Renacer (Thorns is mixed for me but when it hits - it hits big time) but love The Fire as my second favorite. I was huge on LIEY and SS growing up and those records are still chill but I definitely don’t play them much anymore. I couldn’t get into Speak The Truth much either aside from Crash My Car.

 

I have a mixed reception to the new song. I like the chorus melody a lot, guitars are fine, but the verse melodies are very hit or miss line by line. The lyrics since renacer have been super cheesy and heavy handed though, not a fan. I’m intrigued enough to look forward to the rest but a July release, regardless of the reason, is absurd.

I’ve long identified SF as one of my favorite bands and can find something to like on every record but none have really put a big smile on my face throughout the record since The Fire.

The lyrics on Renacer are straight up posi Buddhist material that lifts you up or makes you wanna run laps lol
