Death and loss, the similar themes of First Breath and If There Is Light. like some of the earlier songs though, its about taking that death and moving forward with the regret they are no longer around. example: I will hold your hand until this hospital bed becomes a coffin for us And I will jump right in and I will be buried with you while I'm still breathing If all the world is just a stage Then I would like to die beneath the beams I can finally breathe I don't feel this emptiness anymore This heart that once was broken is All that I have left to give We cannot stop this ship from sinking We cannot stop our shaking hands Hold onto the only love you have Cause you're nothing on your own
I've really been enjoying this album the last couple of days and I feel like it will ultimately slide into my top four in Senses Fail's discography. Buddy's lyrics have to be up there with his best. Songs like "First Breath, Last Breath," "Is It Gonna Be The Year?" and the closer are the ones I've been coming back to the most frequently if I'm not listening to it front to back. "Ancient Gods" is the only song I wish I'd be a little more into, which I think is only because of Dan's tom usage at the end of First Breath and beginning of AG. It sort of blends together and I think a little more space between the end and beginning of each song could really strengthen its place in the tracklist.
I much prefer First Breath, Last Breath. Shaking Hands is definitely one of my least favorite tracks on the album. I like this Last Breath though:
The marketing canpaign for this album is awesome, he Just likes and replies to every tweet about the album so your feed is just filled with senses fail material. Makes me want to throw the album on
He’s always been very good at interacting with his fans on twitter. The two best at doing this from what I’ve seen it’s him and JT Woodruff from Hawthorne. They’ll like and reply to most anything to tag them in
Ronnie radke liked one of my old Instagram photos after I called him a character on a post someone tagged me in. Not as cool as buddy but noteworthy.
That first pre-chorus on NJ.... absolutely classic SF. One of the highlights on the album for me, even though it's only like 12 seconds.
I'm enjoying this record more as I've accepted that it's not as heavy as I would've liked. I listened to it over 5 times yesterday while cleaning my apartment and found myself singing to a bunch of the songs. I'm still not a fan of of double cross though so I wish the opener was stronger. Also, the screams to me are pretty weak after how heavy the last 2 albums were, but I can see how fans of the old material would enjoy them. To me, it just sounds like he's yelling. I think the plot in you did a great job on their last album of limiting the screams while making them seem really powerful and emotional when they were present. Overall, I'm enjoying it more but I'm not dying to go seem them next month when they come. Edit: I had to add to this post. After more time today, I’m falling more in love with this album after every listen . Double cross and gold jacket are the weakest songs on the album but the rest is pretty fucking great. Listening to it with headphones definitely helped with that. First breath last breath, is this going..., Orlando, you get so alone, and the closer are amazing
I’m glad I’m not alone in thinking double cross is a week opener haha it’s a fine song but nothing really memorable about it.
"Fine" is exactly how I would describe it. Even gold jacket is a good song but compared to how heavy the other songs are lyrically, this song just seems kind of silly. I think I'd like it a lot more as a non album single but when listening to the album as a whole, it takes me out of the record if that makes sense.
I personally think it’s a good opening song and shows some restraint on his part to not come out of the gate spitting fire.
Yup. I really can't see the song fitting anywhere else on the album. It just take takes you on an adventure of ups and downs.
I play Rock Band with my lady's 8 year old son and if somehow Gold Jacket, Green Jacket were ever to be downloadable I will sing the shit out of it.
i dig this but alot of the lyrics are kinda rough around the edges for me. been a good week for new music.
I think that song is just so different from the rest of the album which is why I like it ALSO THOSE GUITAR TONES
