I’d start with still searching and move forward. IMO, the lyrics got better with every album

 

I think The Fire has my favorite lyrics and Renacer my least favorite, save for the outright bad ones on LIEY. Granted, I naturally gravitate to depressing lyrics and find a lot of renacer’s really cheesy or too heavy handed (though I guess one could say that about the fire).

 

The title track on this album is probably his best, but there’s some bad stuff scattered elsewhere on this album. I’d say renacer is probably his best over all

got to see them last Friday,loved it.Especially seeing mid 30s guys going crazy in pit and singing every word.so much fun

 

Can’t wait to watch Hate5six’s recording of their Philly show. Surprised he’d do Senses Fail, but nonetheless stoked because of the quality he puts out.

 

I don't know who that is, but I'm curious to hear more about this recording you're talking about?

 

He films shows in the Philly area. Most of the shows he films are in the hardcore/punk genres, but he branches out sometimes. He also digitally restores any VHS recordings of shows and puts them up on his site. I follow him and Buddy on Twitter so I saw that he reached out to him about recording the show (I think he got Household, Have Mercy, and Reggie too).

The quality on his videos is great. He films TIHC every year and usually has people he knows professionally mix the audio for those sets

I remember when they released Mi Amor I was into it and than when the album came out I just didn't like it. I started to listen to Renacer again leading up to when I saw them last week and I found a love for the album all of the sudden. Now The Fire, that hasn't grown on me.

 

Also, I found the DVD that came with Still Searching and I decided to throw it on. Man, Buddy was a asshole than.

 

lol. I remember my cousin who's very religious went with me to see Senses Fail right before Still Searching came out. I don't remember why it came up but Buddy basically said something along the lines of believing in or loving Jesus, paused, then yelled "not" in the microphone. My cousin was like "I'm never going to see them again". It didn't bother me that much since I was used to his persona but my cousin just kept going on about how much of an asshole he was. People change though and Buddy's definitely changed for the better

 

I'd revisit The Fire if you feel inclined. I liked it at the time but Renancer definitely made me appreciate the Fire for whatever reason. Safe House is such a jam along with lifeboats and the fire

 

hopefully there's a couple heavier tracks.

 

what do you think the chances are that Senses Fail go back to being heavy? Even a song like warpaint, bite to break skin, wounds, or closure/rebirth would be great

 

I would say slim due to the reception to the newest record, but I wouldn’t count out there being at least one or two heavier songs in the future

 

Seems like buddy likes heavy enough too much to totally let it go. If he wants to bounce around throughout his career I will board that train with glee.

 

The Fire has grown on me so much over the years (originally hated it) and now I see it as the second best SF record with Renacer being #1.

I would say There is a Light is one of Buddy’s worst records to date. Sure the production is nice but everything bores me musically and the lyrics are just so incredibly cringey. Only songs I can moderately enjoy are “New Jersey Makes..” and “You Get So Alone...”.

 

I know it's purley opinion based but I get bummed when people say If There's Light is awful. I guess because what the album is about.
