Maybe they were asked to support MCR on their headlining US tour this year?

Rumour has it they'll be support for the Rise Against/Billy Talent tour. Not sure how realistic it is since there's already another band on the bill.

I understand why buddy did it but it was a shitty thing to do to everyone else involved, especially so late

Buddy can justify it and spin it all he wants...a better opportunity presented itself and he screwed over the rest of the bill.

It really is as simple as this. The openers especially are going to reel from this financially

    D'oh! Prestigious

I saw it in an article citing Counterparts' drummer being pissed off and I really hoped that it would be something else than just switching to a more lucrative option for the band - though maybe it is, to some extent, it still sucks for the rest of the bill and is hard to explain. Would be fit to find somebody else to headline, the other bands are fucked over this.

That would be cool and all, but man, still a huge asshole move to the openers they boned over that were probably stoked for their first big tour post-pandemic.

I understand his reasoning but he announced their second kid in October. Plenty of time to have made that decision.

Sucks for the other bands a lot. But I get it their decision.

Honestly I thought their headliner tour was a great lineup.

What happens when your band is driven by one man and his ego - you can crush an entire tour and the lively hoods of dozens of musicians and support.

    Shitty decision all around.

I may be in the minority here but I’ve never particularly cared for Buddy as a person, he’s a talented musician for sure but I’ve always gotten a bad vibe from him. Again, I could very well be wrong here but that’s how I’ve felt for years now.

if this was a co-headline, why couldn't they just drop off the tour and allow for We Came as Romans re-book another band? Or was this purely a "co-headliner" but was going to be headlined by SF every night.

I feel like they fucked the other 3 bands, all for a more lucrative tour. Seems unfair.

This seems like pure speculation but from the way the statement was written, this was really a promotional tour for SF's new album originally slated to come out around the tour (now pushed back months). WCAR have put out some singles but I do not believe have published a release date for their next LP. Really seemed like a SF tour with strong direct support from WCAR for extra eyes and ears.

I think WCAR plus another headliner level band could have pulled a solid crowd but I'm sure the nature of the tour's contracting could have restricted this. Or, perhaps, a headliner dropping would have been messy from a refunds standpoint.

Also, I felt like the tour was poorly promoted - but that might be my own narrow lens talking.

    Some of these takes…

Family should always come first, especially with a new born. I’m upset, but I respect his decision 100%

yes but he shouldn't have waited this late to decide to stay home; that decision could have been made months ago. yeah i get that he wanted to be on a bigger tour, better opportunities and scheduling and all, but at least don't act like you didn't fuck over everyone else involved by waiting so late.

I agree with you on that one. The decision was probably a really hard one to make, but the consequence is that dozens of people are going to be deprived of income with a month's notice after two years of not touring.

If you follow Buddy you know that this is a selfish endeavor and that the statement is a folly.
