Moving away from the timing/content of the song... does this sound like a demo to anyone else? The mix doesn't sound like a final product. Maybe its just me.
Rush was a shitty person, there’s no denying that, however, to celebrate someone’s suffering and death from cancer is in poor taste in my opinion. I just feel like we should be better than this, and better than them. A lot of the people gleeful with the slow and painful death of a man are using his awful AIDS segment from years ago. While no one is asking you to forgive him for that nor do I believe we should, he has apologized and has referred to it as “one of the most regretful things I’ve ever done” Everyone has the right to speak how they feel and I’m not attacking anyone for their (warranted) disdain for him. I’m just saying that I’m hoping for a world in which the good people don’t stoop to their level. History will surely judge him poorly. Maybe instead of giving the right more ammunition, just let Limbaugh fade into obscurity.
Counterpoint: he was a racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, vile piece of shit who inspired and reveled in the hate of non-rich straight white Christian men, so fuck him.
Sorry but when it comes to Rush Limbaugh, the whole “Let’s not speak ill of the dead” idea holds no water to the sheer amount of terrible things he said over his life.
Yeah I don’t care what apologies he’s given, the rhetoric and behavior he’s exhibited until his death make me feel like he was in no way actually resentful. I feel for his family but they also enabled a vile human being and I don’t feel bad about that no longer happening.
buddy recorded it a year ago and it's on one of the new albums. he wasn't going to release it as a single unless it made sense.
I have nothing else to say here other than fuck Rush hard and long, and I hope he's burning in the Hell. The anguish that he's caused to countless families and groups of people over the years with the shit he spewed is unreal.
Not to mince words here, but fuck any holier than thou pieces of shit saying to be 'better than' celebrating someone's death. Like, you don't know other peoples' lives. Rush has had a profoundly negative impact on the lives of persecuted peoples in the United States, most notably LGBTQ+,. He was the voice in conservative parents heads, telling them to reprogram their kids. He was the voice telling white people around the country to be scared. It is not a stretch to say that Rush's daily rants divided families and incited domestic violence. If you personally want to turn the other cheek or take the high ground, FINE, but don't tone police the reactions of other people who literally suffered because of this man.
Bingo. Buddy’s lyrics state this rather clearly: “When I was young I used to hate myself/Because bigots like you were given pedestals” His words gave power to a lot of demons that run rampant in our country and now he’s fucking dead and can’t say them anymore. That’s worth celebrating.
