Yah Darwin is a weird closer. Imagine if they closed the album proper with that extended outro to Red Summer Sun.
Tbh I feel like this album is really solid up until An Ode to Maybe and then significantly loses my attention after. It’s not that anything after it is bad, but there’s not a lot that really grabs me.
This is my favorite 3eb album! Darkness Anything 1,000 Julys Camouflage The Red Summer Sun And this was way too hard.. And I knew this was gonna happen but it’s still sad to see my absolute favorite 3eb song of all time (Camouflage) and generally one of my favorite songs ever lose so badly!
Darwin and Deep Inside of You are the only songs in this album I could take or leave. Everything else is great.
yeah, I love the weird lyrics to it coupled with the acoustic instrumentation and cool beat that Brad lays down. I really didn't know how to pick between Darwin and RSS
Alright everyone, the Hawthorne Heights bracket has gone live with TSIBW over here: Brackets Are For Lovers (Hawthorne Heights Bracket)
And with that, the first round of Blue comes to close! I was worried I might have to vote in two separate tie breakers, but we’ve averted a crisis yet again! The winners are highlighted in bold below... Darkness - 6 Deep Inside of You - 11 Slow Motion - 9 Anything - 8 10 Days Late - 10 1,000 Julys - 7 Farther - 15 Camouflage - 2 The Red Summer Sun - 8 Darwin - 9 Also, speaking personally, I think “Darwin” is a fantastic closer! It takes a relatively somber (for 3EB anyway) album out on a bouncy, refreshing high note. Its deceptively simple structure rewards repeat listens, and that outro is just capital MmmHmm good! In any case, Round Two coming up in just a minute!
Blue ROUND TWO 1.) Deep Inside of You vs. Wounded 2.) Slow Motion vs. 10 Days Late 3.) Farther vs. An Ode to Maybe 4.) Darwin vs. Never Let You Go
Wounded 10 Days Late Farther Never Let You Go That was quite a bit easier for me than the first round!
Wounded 10 Days Late (This one was super hard for me—I bet my answer would be different depending on the day) An Ode to Maybe Never Let You Go
