My band released a new album today! Hard to really define it sonically, but some of our shared influences are Modest Mouse, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Pavement, Joan of Arc, Weatherbox, Cursive, and The Dismemberment Plan. Idk if we sound like any of those bands, but maybe if you like them you’ll like us somehow?

this is the last time every time, by mineral girls

That switch around 1:40 (and the transition into it) was incredible.

  5. Somehow forgot to post in this thread: new album GLOW out this Friday via Flowerpot Records. Dream-pop in the same vein as Beach Fossils, DIIV and Wild Nothing, mastered by @sophos34 (who absolutely knocked it out of the park). Preorders are live now. I'd love to hear your thoughts!!

I love DIIV so I quite like this but I feel the guitars could've used a little more reverb/delay and the singer seems to fall behind the beat sometimes in a manner that doesn't seem intended.

also the guitar in the beginning sounds a little out of tune but maybe I'm just dumb/deaf/bad taste.

btw your avatar looks sick hope that's the album cover

  10. Appreciate you listening and appreciate the feedback! We're honestly really happy with how it turned out. Maybe the album as a whole will be more your speed (cover is in the video, haha)

don't worry about it, any jackass can nitpick the mix of a song ;) I'm sure the album will be great!

too bad about the cover ;)

I think you nailed the FFO section. Also the vocal performance as well as the vocal production on this song is fucking DOPE.
Guitars in the verses could use a little more thickness/sustain but other than that this is excellent

    Thank you!

It was a fairly limited mobile studio for the tracking and the guy I have worked with (for the last 5 years or so) took it back to his home studio and mixed everything there. This was the first time I had him mix since some demos back when I started recording this solo project with him. I had Seth Henderson mix 2 EP’s and then Rob Freeman mix the last 3 singles I released. All of this to say, I am so happy that I kept the song “in-house” this time and had him mix it.

On another note, I went back and listened to the Emerson album again. I got a Jack’s Mannequin vibe on certain songs (which I absolutely love). Great job on both the LP and the acoustic EP!

Ayyy, thanks so much for listening again man. I fuckin' love McMahon so that's a great compliment. I wonder which songs specifically...

Do you have a full album? I seriously had your song stuck in my head for an hour. Only thing i craved were like, octave harmony vocals on parts, but that's just my personal taste i guess, haha.

I don’t know if any one song had an overwhelming “oh this songs like [insert JM song]” (which I think is a good thing), but rather I could hear his influence in your choice of melody and at times the vibe of the music. I absolutely adore AM and his song writing, so you should absolutely take that as the compliment it was intended!

That’s awesome! I love to hear that... and, no, unfortunately no official full length. I have been releasing things in small batches. My bandcamp has about 10 or so songs from over the last 5 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oh man... I wish I physically could hit octave harmonies. I was really getting up there with those harmonies (when we tripled them in the chorus) as it was. I totally plan on exploring the potential of an acoustic/duet version with a female vocalist... might have to bust that it.

I got your octaves if you ever need 'em dude! :crylaugh:

Can't wait to hear more though. I wish there were more bands in my area with your style cause it'd be easier to set up shows.
