So Rebecca Taylor from Slow Club has finally released her first solo album. This thing is jammed packed with pop bangers. The Best might just be the best pop song ive heard this year (sorry Carly Rae fans) The scope of this album goes far beyond anything Slow Club did, do not sleep on it.
this album is seriously tremendous. Between that intro and the opening song I get the sense that Slow Club was creatively strangling her. This feels very freeing.
This has been in constant rotation the past few days. It's such a unique pop album, the massive hooks are there but there's a lot of little electronic bits and backing vocals that add so much.
YES. their first two albums are 1000% worth checking. Their 3rd and 4th album while good did kind of lose me though. Yeah So is peak "twee-core" and is in line with first Los Campesinos! if your into them. It's an incredibly simple album (mostly acoustic) but features some fantastic song writing/story telling. Paradise (their 2nd album) is easily in my top 5 albums of all time and is where they perfected their sound. Just an overall perfect indie rock album/
Rebecca and band are coming to Dublin on Monday and I'm only just finding out today lol, luckily tickets are still available but I'll definitely go along!
Slow Club: Our Most Brilliant Friends the slow club documentary drops in december and im real interested to see it considering it details the slow decline/falling out of Slow Club
You guys, tonight was bangin'. And I've decided Girl Crush is my favourite pop song of 2019, no contest.
big fan of SC and much of her first album but I this was a big swing and a miss for me. glad she's doing good I guess?
I'M SO INTO THIS Dublin show November 9th that'd require me to take a day off from work - if I have the time saved up I'm definitely going.
