Not a fan of this compared to their old stuff, but if this is the direction that brings them bliss, best of luck.
what's that much different about this from their last album? it's much more in line with their older stuff than what I was expecting based on their promo interviews
I'd be betting that lead times on vinyl production is a large portion of that...considering at the peak of the pandemic, you had to put your order out a year in advance. As a result, these longer album roll outs make sense. Combine that with needing to drop a single before your fall tour, it makes sense.
It continues the direction of the last album, which I wasn't a fan of. I really do not like the clean vocals tbh. Connie's screams and sass vocals are what I love(d) about SYSC. Compared to the demo/EP/Songs from the Firing Squad had short fun songs that had more skramz/sass influence. Correlation... reminded me of the metalcore from the 2000s I loved. Romance of Affliction leaned into the stuff from the 2000s I didn't like. This continues that trend. Tbh, it's almost entirely the clean vocals that take me out of it. It's weird because I don't mind clean vocals in my metalcore with this throwback stuff. Sometimes it works like with a band like Foreign Hands. Sometimes it doesn't like with SYSC. It's a case-by-case basis type thing that's almost certainly a me problem. Either way, SYSC deserves what ever success they get.
Love the chorus on this, absolutley gonna go insane live with everyone singing it before going wild on the breakdowns.
I like it. Both the song and the artwork for the single seem to lean in to that 2006/2007 Rise Records vibe (even more than their last album did) and I fuck with that
Song has been on repeat. Absolute nostalgia while feeling fresh. The cleans on here are fantastic too. That panic chord section gave me some Manipulator era Fall of Troy vibes. Just really enjoy this one.
I text my buddy “the breakdown at the end of this song is gonna get someone killed.” And I mean that in the best way possible.
Connie wasn’t lying when she says theres gonna be Bloc Party influence on the new stuff and it’s so well put with their stuff it’s nuts
I need this album announcement! with two tracks out already its gotta be like October/November right? I just need this kinda vibe for when the snow starts to hit
This is like the weirdest The Blood Brothers and Senses Fail mashup I've ever heard and I'm all for it
