I am trying to create an objective* list of the greatest emo artists + sub-genres, so if you know a bit about emo's history I'd appreciate some advice. Simply post in this thread and I'll be sending you a PM with my questions. Thanks in advance.

jw OP, what are you looking to accomplish? I ask only because there are quite a bit of those historical compilations of emo that people have made as sort of starter things for people looking into the genre.
I kind of think most of them are not great since they use very rigid definitions and the one people seem to use most decided to shit on The Promise Ring which imo makes it lose legitimacy lol

 

I own all three Armor For Sleep albums.

So info that I'm sure ppl know but ,, whatever: the emo trinity is Fall Out Boy (the father), Panic At The Disco (the son), MCR (the holy ghost). but the new emo trinity, which ive heard called New Wave Emo, or New Wave emo trinity, is Melanie Martinez, Halsey, and twenty one pilots
