Yeah all of this seems right from what I've gathered. It's laughable how quick twitter is trying to jump on any and every nitpick they can with Marvel right now
People who like the MCU a lot (more than I do) were also interpreting it that way, lol. So, I don’t think it’s just the mean, nasty Marvel-haters on Twitter- I mean, X dot com. Anyways, glad there’s evidence they didn’t retcon Rhodey being there for Endgame, which would be very dumb.
The director of the episode also just indicated it’s from civil war lol “A lot of people have asked about, 'Definitively, when did Rhodey...?'" Secret Invason director Ali Selim said in an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com. "I think his legs not working in the end of episode six and him being in the hospital gown points to [Captain America: Civil War]. ” edit: although he does back down from fully committing to full on confirming it.
That’s kinda weird. Unless they straight up fabricated the quote for clicks and got too much attention.
I never watched What If...?, but I'm pretty sure I liked this less than every other MCU show with possibly the exception of TFatWS.
SECRET INVASION Director Ali Selim Shares His Take On How Long [SPOILER] Was A Skrull Imposter Sounds like Rhodey has indeed been a skrull since civil war. What a dumb decision to not have the real Rhodey in Infinity War and Endgame. "A lot of people have asked about, 'Definitively, when did Rhodey...?'"he tells ComicBook.com. "I think his legs not working in the end of episode six and him being in the hospital gown points to ['Captain America: Civil War']."
It makes no logical sense even within the show's narrative, unless there's something that hasn't been revealed yet.
Finally watched the finale. Overall I didn’t hate the show but also didn’t really like it either. I think it had some good things, the presidents war against aliens seems like it could be an interesting story to follow up on. The skrull fight seemed like something that some middle school kids came up with and I think with a movie budget and a better director it could have at least been fun but we got what we got. It’s kinda strange how the episodes got shorter as the series went on. It felt both rushed but also like it didn’t have enough story to fill the amount of episodes. Maybe this would have worked better as a movie.
This was really underwhelming through and through. So many great actors' talents wasted on a poorly written show that had no compelling insight to offer on the real world implications and parallels re: immigration, racism, and antisemitism. Just kept trying to one up itself by killing off characters to keep the stakes high
