I don't know, while it does suck that any development for Rhodey since Civil War might be undone, this explains a lot of what Armor Wars is likely going to be about, and it opens up some emotional storytelling possibilities. I'm willing to see where it goes.
The problem here is we don't know for sure if that's the case. I know he was wearing a hospital gown and couldn't walk, but I feel like they didn't overtly answer that on purpose -- which I wish they had. It definitely affects any rewatches of Infinity War and Endgame, especially Tony's death.
After episode 2 showed that the death in episode 1 was not a fake out I stopped watching, and then I heard about the death in episode 3 and lost interest in the show altogether, but now I'm learning apparently episode 4 showed that that was a fake out??? okay, maybe I do need to watch this
Ok, you marvelous freaks. Question. Does this show actually confirm the timeline of whatever Skrull situation Rhodey had going on? (My interest in Marvel Studios & the MCU as an ongoing concern is at an all-time low. But, the Armor Wars film is one where, if they get the right creatives locked in after the strikes & the marketing looks good, I’d be interested in seeing it.)
I ask because trending stuff on Twitter seemed to have some conflicting reports? Like about whether or not Rhodey was actually there for Endgame.
I haven’t seen it yet but if he was a Skrull way back then it doesn’t really explain his attitude change in this series
They don't overtly identify it, but visual evidence suggests since Civil War, which means we’ll probably have to watch Armor Wars to find out for sure.
Yeah I don't understand when he was replaced by a Skrull. Cause he was clearly acting different in this show and I never remember that being the case before
Well, I can see that I’m going to be a staunch Secret Invasion defender in the years to come. Jeeeeeez…
At first I didn’t like the reveal but I take it back. It’s funny to imagine that the random Skrull who took his form probably had “shit, I have to go fight Thanos in space and do some time traveling to 2014. I also have to pretend to love this Stark guy during his last breath and then take center stage at his funeral” moments. Talk about stepping up the plate. It also makes sense to select Rhodey. He was in the hospital and someone with good US intel + Avengers rep is a person the skrulls could use
You guys are absolutely crazy, there was nothing wrong with this finale. Thought this series was great. Top 3 MCU shows. Happy to see Fury and Varra together in the end. Stoked for more Emelia Clarke! Was rad seeing her with Danvers' powers. This was far from a pointless series, it set up a few great characters and the President's actions could have a bunch of implications for the future of the MCU.
This was ok. I didn’t hate it, but it’s not in my top 3. If we’re talking Disney+ shows, I’d say Wandavision, Loki, and Ms. Marvel…Moon Knight being a runner up.
I've never liked (or disliked) Rhodey, I'm honestly kinda surprised so many people have such a strong emotional attachment to his character that they have a problem with his reveal, I think that's pretty cool to see in the fandom
Maybe I was distracted. But what was the significance of the last scene with Giah and Sonya? I have no idea what that was.
I took Rhodes having trouble walking was from being under for longer than the others, but I feel like nothing actually shows the timeline for that.
A little let down by the finale but I still liked this. Didn’t love it but found it overall enjoyable
I don’t think Rhodey was replaced during the events of Civil War. Stark built him the leg braces to keep him on two feet and the skrulls simply took them off of him because, well, why keep them on him when he’s their prisoner? So yeah, he can’t walk when he’s released from the pod because he can’t walk without his braces. Also, when the Avengers compound is destroyed in Endgame Rhodey canopies out of his suit because he’s trapped under the rubble and injured/bleeding. He’d have bled purple, would have turned back into a skrull and…wouldn’t need to crawl away because he’d be able to walk without the braces as a skrull. Plus, isn’t his blood also supposedly part of the Harvest or whatever? It’d also be a retroactively bad look on Tony’s death scene in Endgame to have his “best friend” watching him die actually turn out to be a secret alien traitor the whole time. I would guess it happened some time after Endgame, maybe during a routine hospital checkup for his legs or something. In the MCU it’s been several years now since the events of Endgame, right? So that’s still potentially a significant amount of time for Rhodey to have been kidnapped and held prisoner. I’m pretty sure Fury also said something about Gravik being an ally until the blip happened and then after the events of Endgame he defected. So it wouldn’t really make sense for the skrull rebellion to have started years before that.
