Solid album, just a shame it came out during covid and promotion was small and they couldn't tour it.
Yeah the album and the direction they were going with the music was fantastic, too bad they lost all momentum with covid and the legal issues.
No jump scares, and don’t mean to get up false hopes, but anyone who has been missing this album and the vibe/sound it has should check out the new Grayscale, specifically the middle record stretch around “Summer Clothes” and “Some Kind of Magic.” The whole album is a ripper though - like Bad Suns plus early the 1975 plus the Killers. All anthems.
I like Grayscale, and I like the newest album, but I never thought about the similarities to Seaway on some songs. You're very correct. I just really miss Seaway though.
Interesting I got a ping for this thread. I don’t think I’ve listened to Big Vibe. I remember digging Vacation though.
for me if seaway came back it wouldn't be the same since they let go Patrick Carleton who was their second vocalist and guitarist (he got canceled during the pandemic so they gave him the boot) but i really liked the dual vocals of their first three albums, big vibe didn't have that and it was a change in sound and i tried but it never really did much for me, apartment was peak seaway for me. i know a lot of people dug the last album but not for me. with that said, i wouldn't mind them getting back together and touring the old stuff since i never got a chance to see them live.
Big Vibe is definitely their best and Patrick seems to suck so I’m fine with him being out of the band if they come back
What happened with the lawsuit? I always assumed it was because of Patrick but I might be wrong there. Just through on this album and this song is still a gem.
I think Pat legally owns the "company" that the band Seaway is, and won't let them perform under the name Seaway.
