Two episodes in. Damn what a refreshing way to justify a “remake” can we get graphic novel adaptations of this version of the story?
I took my time watching this and finished today. I really liked it! Like everyone else, I didn’t know this wasn’t an adaption. The different jokes and such I thought were just updating or using alt jokes for fun. Had no clue the story would be so different. I was thinking something was off when they got to the first ex fight in the first episode and knew there were many more episodes. Felt rushed almost in that way, but now knowing the whole story, it is well paced. My expectations were just way off. I like how this ends with basically all of them as friends. And we got to know all the Ex’s better, except the twins kind of. But that’s fine.
I enjoyed this but I’m not as as head over heels as the rest of you. It feels pretty rushed, wish it had a few more episodes to flesh out the characters.
I need to reread the books to see how similar the movie was to them, but I recall the movie being one of those prime examples of people (both supporters and critics) misunderstanding the point, as if it portrays Scott as a cool fun guy the whole time rather than a guy who starts shitty but eventually grows (literally leveling up!) into a good person
^Totally agree, and I’ve always thought Michael Cera was a little miscast for that reason. I don’t think he’s enough of an asshole for the role. I do think he’s great in this show though, maybe just doing the voice helps.
I love the movie for what it is, but yes I strongly agree that Cera was miscast. They also had to cut a lot of the character development for Scott from the books that were lighter on the action. I wish we got to see some of the stuff with Scott and Kim from the later books in the movie.
just realized Griffin Newman plays the actor playing Wallace in the movie, the “notorious heterosexual” pretty sure he’s been up against Kieran in some real life roles, too. that’s kinda fun.
just finished, this was good fun. villain reveal was pretty predictable/underwhelming though. would absolutely watch more seasons of this especially if they went even further from the comics story
Finally finished and this was absolutely perfect. Might be my favorite thing I’ve watched this year. I can’t believe they pulled this off
full music video for the OP, nice little Crash and the Boys cover at the end. Still salty they didn't make an appearance
should probably watch this again, I was so high the first time I barely remember anything about it lol
