    This was alright

I don't know how we decided $20 is an acceptable rental price regardless of circumstance

You gotta figure the movies getting that treatment were intended for theatrical release. So, they spent however much on the film & marketing up until we hit the pandemic, & were banking on the revenue streams of both theaters & the later home releases (digital & bluray). I ain't into all of that enough to know any specifics, lol, but I at least know that's an entire economic ecosystem that they surely weighed into their decision making.

Plus, it is a single transaction for an entire household as opposed to however many tickets, which has to be a big factor for what's intended as a family film, right?

I do know, like, for Birds of Prey, they initially had it at $19.99 rental, but then moved to $19.99 purchase & $5.99 rental. So, for these straight to VOD pandemic decisions, I imagine they'll follow a similar artificial version of the traditional release window.

This was kind of a bummer. Definitely didn't feel like a Scooby Doo movie and all of the Hanna Barbera stuff felt odd and tacked on. Probably didn't help that I rewatched Zombie Island the night before watching this.

What's even more upsetting is the set up in the beginning of this was fantastic. The recreation of the original opening sequence made me so happy.

Have you watched the zombie island sequel from last year? That was cool

I don't think I've ever actually seen Zombie Island. I might have to fix that

I just feel like it shouldn't cost as much to rent a movie as it normally does to buy one

I had this complaint when The Hunt came out. Even assuming I'm watching with someone else, $20 is more than I would spend in the theater

Ended up buying this because you might as well

Idk my whole context for Scooby Doo is the original series, the New School Doo Movies series, and A Pup Named Scooby Doo. What I've seen of the later animated films wasn't great

I find them really hit and miss but zombie island is easily one of the best. Used to give one of my sister's nightmares as a kid lol

there was a sequel last year?! Somehow missed that. Is it any good? I was surprised how well Zombie Island held up, hadn't watched it in years.

Recently found out What's New Scooby Doo and Mystery Incorporated are both streaming on Netflix. WNSD I really liked when it came out but haven't revisited since. Haven't seen the latter.

Is the OG series streaming anywhere?

Zombie Island isn’t like the other Scooby Doo movies. It’s pretty dark.

Wanted to like it more than I did. Echoing others in saying I wish it was more of a Scooby Doo movie.
