The series follows the lives of people growing up in Belfast in the 1970s, 80s and 90s during the Troubles, as well as their involvement in the Provisional Irish Republican Army, and inquiries into the Disappeared and particularly the murder of Jean McConville

    All 9 episodes out now

I’ve got two episodes left but this is really good.

The book’s one of the best things I’ve ever read, just reread it before the show started — which might not be fair to the show because I did find myself getting disappointed at the big stuff they skipped (a lot of Brendan Hughes stuff in particular).

I do wish it was more than 9 episodes and included some of the context and detail that’s missing, but still this is totally riveting. The actors playing the Price sisters are incredible.

I'm only on episode 4 and this might be one my favorite shows of the year. Maybe right under Shogun.

This is also my favorite Anthony Boyle's million performances this year.

Finished this. I don't know if I 100% liked the artistic license it took in it's ending, but yeah this is overall fantastic.

That PTSD monologue Lola Petticrew gives in episode 7 should earn them an Emmy nom.

Would definitely recommend the book to anyone who liked the show — the show is as good of an adaptation as you could conceivably do in 9 episodes, but there’s a ton missing of course. In particular, there are a ton of conversations and details that lead the author to the ending that the show depicts. But all the logistical details around the Belfast Project (the legality of the confessions, the conflicting information about whether the window was an informant, etc) are just not things you can really portray cinematically without it getting confusing.

All in all I thought the show did a great job of telling the story, it left a lot out but only embellished scenes that felt emotionally true to the characters even if they didn’t really happen like that.

Weird how this was legit one of the best series of 2024, is getting heaps of critical praise and early Emmy buzz, but I feel like general audiences are not talking about it at all. Disney did a pretty bad job marketing it. I have to imagine it is because it's subject matter.
