The best Say Anything album is New Again?

I listened to Simple Sweet and while there's definitely something about Chris from STD in there it honestly just sounds like disjointed ramblings from an unhinged person, like most of Max's stuff.

God, he's become so insufferable. I'm just out completely now. The fact that they haven't been kicked off Riot fest or what ever is an insult.

Agreed (edited my post), I just hope the kids are okay. This cannot be healthy either:

Sherri said on IG they were going to “drift around” for a while after selling their Texas home.

These kids need structure and they need to be in school.

Untreated mental health is an extremely complex mess. This is so sad. I don't see there being a very happy resolution...

    Things have changed.

    Feel awful for the kids.

Yuck to that person saying “lol no they’re homeless” fuck off

Feel very bad for the kids so it would be good to show some sensitivity to the living situation

  11. I don't want to say too much for multiple reasons, but there's an awful sense of pride coming from that snark sub about "breaking Max" and regardless of any allegations I can't imagine wishing a public mental breakdown on someone with an obviously very concerned family, including kids

Even just having a private sub-reddit to bitch and gossip about another person's family is gross and weird to me.

The sub (and the whole idea of it) is fucking gross. I got a notification of him going live and with a a wife and 4 kids of my own, I tend to ignore those completely. I'll admit when I had a moment to myself I clicked on it in the midst of notification checking and about a minute into it I realized that something was off. I noticed this morning that the comments backed up that assumption, and the fact that such a private episode was made public and was being discussed right after the fact was just sad and.,......complicated? I really hope someone can get him what he needs and I just wish the best for the kids overall. Also, for what it's worth, we homeschool (for personal reasons as we're agnostic progressives, so it's not a Christian/conservative thing) and Max and Sherri seem to do the utmost extreme version of 'unschooling'. I see people around this discussion jump to the fact that these kids need school and in this instance, I wouldn't disagree. Just know that in a generalized sense it's possible to homeschool and still have plenty of socializing, structure, etc.

Yeah, the American schooling system is not for everyone and I'm totally fine with that.

I just want the kids to be okay. That's all.

100% agree. Obviously every situation is different (and I only mentioned that because of some of the things I've seen said on the discussion in the past) but the overall important factor here is figuring out what's best for those kids and putting it in place. I know what it's like to have mental health struggles, though not to the degree that Max has had to live with, but I just hope there are enough well-intentioned people in their lives to help out where possible

FWIW, if they want to homeschool their kids, by all means go for it, but my comment was just that the need to be in at least SOME sort of school (home or in person) and not just unschooled learning nothing.

Yeah, I knew what you meant.

I just want them to be safe and happy and healthy and like, kids. I want them to be able to actually have a childhood and not some nightmare scenario.

Totally, I figured that's what you meant but it just reminded me of previous comments (not necessarily here) that were jumping into the discussion of homeschooling when this family is really just unschooling (and that's being generous). I wasn't directing that at you, but it did kind of bring that whole point back into my memory

Christ. This is tough, because like, clearly Max hasn't been the best person (just to put it lightly). I think any fan who has dropped the band or voiced frustration is valid in their feelings and their expression of those feelings, but people being like, proud of the idea that they contributed to that live stream is fucked up. I don't want to speculate on whether Max should have a platform at this point. I'm not the kind of person who thinks anyone's moral value is based on whether or not they listen to "canceled" artists or whatever. But I think whether you like Max or not, it isn't good for anyone for someone to be in this rough of shape. Especially when he has a wife and kids. I hope he is able to get help and I genuinely hope whatever Say Anything does moving forward is successful enough for him/his family to be able to afford the help they need. But like, I think the whole family either needs to get off social media, or at least give up control of all their social media to whatever labels/managers they have at this point because so much of this mess came about with them oversharing, and they have only made it worse since shit like the snark sub has popped up.

It kinda needs to be about health at this point

You can dislike Max for a multitude of justifiable reasons, but if you’re really an advocate of mental health, which im sure everyone here would claim to be, then identify it for what it is - this is an unhealthy man, in an unhealthy relationship, raising unfortunately probably unhealthy children - the cycle has to break for the benefit of them all. It can’t be about music, or personality, or money anymore - this guy needs help and these awkward videos and cringe worthy songs are the only ways he knows how to ask for it

I was talking to someone who told me about someone who did some really terribly horrendous stuff and ruined people's lives, got arrested and then got released years later and is allowed to be free on the streets and they were upset because apparently he has some severe mental problems and they were really leaning into that in a negative way I didn't like. As if he got a free pass because of his mental problems or something and that all people with mental problems are going to murder someone or something and I was trying to explain that everyone has the capacity to do horrible things, but we don't need to demonize people who have these sort of problems. It in no way justifies any of the actions and people need to be held accountable, but it's super shitty to see people be like "we need to do more for mental health in this country" and also be like "of course he did that because he has mental problems".

Max, with or without his mental problems, did bad things and that needs to be taken into account, but I'm not going to actively wish for his downfall. I think everyone deserves help.

(There are so many variables and exceptions of course like if a person HAS received help multiple times and continues to do terrible things, etc. I can't cover every single hypothetical, but I hope you all know what I mean)

  23. Someone sent me a screenshot that this comment has been posted in the sub, very cool, that's enough internet for me at *checks watch* 8am. God forbid somebody acknowledges the allegations while also pointing out why having a community dedicated to clowning on someone with an obvious mental health issue and a whole-ass family is in poor taste ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
