Yeah, the best the band has sounded in awhile, completely undone by Max being a vindictive asshole. I like that he says “Google him” like there’s some dirt out there, when it’s like “Why did he want me to Google the former drummer of Mutemath”?

 

Gonna be completely real, this made me listen to Mutemath and they fuck. So this has had the absolute opposite effect that Max intended

Musically, this song is fantastic. The best since self-titled. Never thought I’d see the day.

But damn do the lyrics just not pass the vibe check. I mean, most SA lyrics suck but they’re at least passive while listening. These lyrics are big ugly nails.

Dude needs to go back to writing ooey gooey love songs like Crush’d. They’re cheesy but not outright bizarre and embarrassing.

Edit: nvm, the “shedding slutty girls like snake skin” line is cringe. Body twitching cringe.

 

OMG you've never listened to mutemath???? Do yourself a favor and listen to each and every album. Darren is one of the best drummers this scene has ever had, he is mesmerizing live

 

If you ignore the mid lyrics (and the last 30 seconds altogether) - Psyche is actually a pretty good track!

Definitely, the best produced SA song in quite some time and that’s coming from a fan of IDTII.

 

Also Max sounds pretty good, all things considered, so I’ll definitely be interested in the eventual new record.

 

I was also surprised with how well Max sounded here. Doesn’t sound like he has aged.

 

This video is a must watch. Their records were incredible but they were unreal on stage.

 

I don't know why I keep going back to Max. Perhaps its the nostalgia. I echo what everyone else is saying about the song. Sounds more clean than before and musically its brilliant (understandable given the members) but once that ending starts.....

 

The lyrics that show for this part on Apple Music are…interesting.

Listened on good speakers. I actually really like it besides the obvious weird troubling outro. If they play the outro today live it's gonna be interesting to see how people react to say the least lol

 

I’ve never been much of a say anything fan but I just listened to this and thought the song was pretty solid. The putto is very lame, but I have no idea what any of those lyrics are referencing or who the people in question are lol

 

Really liked this single, but just went to read the lyrics now, and all the stuff that I'd misheard (or at least so I thought hahh) is actually there. And what would he have for Darren King? I think I've lost track, cause I thought he's recorded drums for SA and was his brother-in-law somehow. Some pretty unhinged lines ;u

the first part of this was kind of shockingly good...what the fuck happens at the end? what's going on? I feel like I really missed a lot of context, I have not kept up with max in several years at this point

 

What are the chances this all unravels and most of the band drops out of any tour support?

 

This song was actually decent? But Max is such a twat that I can’t enjoy it and probably won’t listen again. Plus like everyone else said what the fuck were those lyrics.

 

I'm just gonna leave this thread because I have no respect for Max at all and I don't want to just be talking stupid drama stuff for the whole album cycle.
