Thank you @Vase Full Of Rocks for liking my month and a half old posts and reminding me of that awful fucking podcast thing Max did. BRB gonna relive this nightmare high af real quick
It’s crazy that this stuff hasn’t gained more traction. It’s scary to think the Max could be touring or influencing people with his music with this kind of behavior and issues going on.
I guess Max released a new or old or something track, that might be a cover? I honestly dont follow, but it's not very good either way Long lost demo, originally performed by Elliot Smith, Aimee Mann and some journalist who literally called the dude a "sad sack" and has most likely regretted it every day since.
It took me awhile to figure out what the “press release” or whatever for this track meant, but I think it is a demo of a cover that was recorded after Oliver Appropriate was finished, but before Max put Say Anything on hiatus. But yeah, it’s not great still. It’s kinda sad seeing this bandcamp because Max’s weird podcast thing shed way too much light on where him and his family is at, so it’s obvious that they are just throwing shit on there to try and make enough to get by at this point.
So I am listening through this other album on the bandcamp I hadn't heard before and noticed a few things: - First off, this is somewhat enjoyable overall. The production isn't total trash, it's all stripped down, but they actually sound pretty good throughout. - This is 10 songs previous released as "Sherri/Max Acoustic Split LP" where Sherri does acoustic versions of Eisley songs and Max does acoustic versions of Say Anything songs - The 10 new songs are more interesting, in my opinion, Sherri covering eight Say Anything songs and Max covering two Eisley songs. I would suggest checking out these songs first if you don't want to check out the whole album. These are tracks 1, 4, 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, 17, 19, 20.
oh no I'm not there yet!!!! Only 10 into it haha. But I think what I was getting at is that while they are mostly lower-fi, it doesn't really impede the acoustic songs in the same ways it impedes full band songs
Max just postponed his solo tour because of a "family emergency". I just can't stop thinking/ worrying about their poor kids.
Yeah just saw that. They already shortened the tour too a while back so this blows. Hopefully everyone is ok
i feel bad for the opener who i believe is from Canada. I guess they posted something saying they were essentially screwed since they paid for a bunch of hotels and whatnot
So the man who tries to make performance art out of his instability in real time continues to be unstable in real time. I definitely feel bad for YMAEWK and any other openers who were scheduled to play, but like, people should probably stop working with him while he's actively flailing...
I don't think anyone's surprised, including the bands signed on for it. Shit, they probably know more than we do. But in the case of YMAEWK I feel like not only would there be crossover fans but a fan base that would easily be receptive to YMAEWK's sound. Plus they're freaking awesome live.
I know no one in here is happy with Max but I also think speculating about a "family emergency" not being an actual emergency is a bad look
yup while I can agree with the sentiments expressed, let's not immediately cast aspersions. we have no idea what the situation is
I don't think anyone in here said the podcast was a good thing? And I don't think saying it's not great to question a family emergency is the same as giving him the benefit of the doubt? Really bizarre and aggressive post to aim at people who are absolutely allowed to want his family to be okay.
