I’m not trying to speculate too much. Like others said I’m just really hoping the children in this situation are alright

 

This whole thing seems very sad, Max and Sherri clearly need a lot of help and at least she’s seeking it ?

 

I hope she gets the help she needs and the kids end up alright and maybe Max just stops this bullshit. I also worry about what they’ll do for money since they’ve been living off of a lot of grifts for the past decade and at some point, that well will run dry.

 

I am uncomfortable after reading that IG post. It’s distressing and also gross.

 

Echoing the comment above. All I can think about this is why is he using his platform to do all this? Just... why?

Sure Max, you’re the victim because people don’t give you a free pass to be a shitty person because you’re bipolar.

 

I once heard someone on a podcast say "mental illness is not your fault, but it is your responsibility" and that has stuck with me for years.

 

This right here. I’m bipolar myself and have been properly medicated for about 5 or 6 years now and have been going to therapy every two weeks since then. I completely understand how hard it is and that it comes much harder for some than others, but the saying still applies.

 

After thinking about it and pointlessly posting on the Instagram post, I wonder if Sherri was even in the right state of mind to give consent. Like, even if she knew exactly what Max would share, is that consent legitimate?

I tried looking up some definitions to clarify for myself and it seems you can’t give consent if you have a mental disability. I felt disability was an odd choice of word and googling it just brings up disorders and illnesses, and if that’s the case I would argue Sherri could not give consent in this scenario.

Holy shit, I hit play on this while I was working and for some reason "Where I End and You Begin" by Radiohead starting playing and I was like wtf is this and what is he gonna do vocally here lmao

Anyways, song sounds good. Gonna have to scope the lyrics but it's really catchy and easy on the ears. Big S/T vibes with the pop direction and the horns

feels so weird to go from someone sharing a 20min audio post of their ongoing personal and family crisis to commenting about the new song they put out. I suppose that's what a Say Anything thread is at this point though.

 

The chorus of the song reminds me a lot of the Chainsmokers.

Wish I could like this more, but that whole speech he posted was too much. Him talking about taking advantage of the war in Ukraine so he can make money was yikes, along with everything else. Not trying to lecture anyone on what line they should draw, but the whole thing was a bridge too far for me.

 

As an ex-die hard Say Anything fan up to Hebrews, I'm tired of people being apologists to the trash that Max has released since. What are people talking about this sucks and if it was anyone but Max it'd be laughable. Random bands on facebook forums that get no plays on spotify sound a thousand times better. I'll steal the comparison, it's a really poor version of the chainsmokers. People want so badly to like it because it's Max.

I really stopped paying any attention and just saw the personal stuff. Just sad.

 

It's cool if you don't like it but trying to deny that other people may like it just makes you look silly.

I don't care if I like anything Max puts out, he's put out a lot of shit I don't like. His two new songs are fun.

 

I don't know what's going on with his personal situation and I don't blame anyone for feeling turned off, but I also have no reason to pretend to like something on a forum that doesn't really fuck with him anymore lol. I shit on IDTII so hard that I ended up interviewing Max about it lmao if I didn't like the songs, I wouldn't have a problem discussing it, but I think this one in particular is quite good ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

I like evermore more than this (especially the back half) so far but I don't know if I'd revisit either much. Honestly just happy he's doing a tour, the acoustic tour years ago was one of my favorites

 

For me, totally personally as a listener, Max's music has always been about reckoning with personal growth and mental health shit. To watch him free-fall into a hole and release music through it was one thing before he had a family, but now that he's got a family, I don't fuck with that. He needs to do better, and supporting him at this point, again, for me personally, feels extraordinarily gross.

Kind of gross for people to be praising anything about Max after all the stuff that has came out and how he’s been acting. He needs help and enabling him is the worst thing you could probably do. Dude obviously shouldn’t be touring or put in a position of influence at all.
