The bass line during that part. Oh my GOD. Honestly, Anarchy My Dear has some of the best bass tones I’ve ever heard anywhere.
This article made me think about Max a lot. The Voidz album review: On 'Virtue,' Julian Casablancas scorches the Strokes' legacy
that was a very cool read. I see what parts remind you of Max but I feel like Max is also closer to the "cutthroat motherfuckers" the article mentions (only in terms of how he works not in why he does it)
I’d be surprised he would do WT after all those shitty things keep coming up about the owner or whatever
I've started thinking Hebrews is actually the best album since "In Defense...". I listened to it really loud in the car the other day and honestly I think the songs are among Max's best. I know the "no guitars" thing freaked a few people out (me absolutely included) at first, but I think it really suits the songs well, and his lyrics are actually way better than I remember them being. Better and more genuine than anything on both "Anarchy, My Dear" and "I Don't Think It Is", in my opinion. Really excited to hear the new stuff.
I’m starting to think I just can’t enjoy any SA since Anarchy, which still had a few songs I liked. Max’s voice is just grating. Hebrews is on another level of bad, tho.
i still really love Hebrews, just wish the lyrics were a bit more relate-able, they are a little too specific to Max at some times which makes it hard to really get into the songs.
I know this is a few weeks old but max hyping up anarchy is the sole reason I never trust musicians descriptions of their own work before I hear it lol
Anarchy was probabl the most disappointed I ever have been initially hearing a record which I was that excited for. Nowadays I've made peace with it and enjoy a handful of it, but holy hell I'll never forget how my face felt after that first listen. Totally robbed
