Song demo doesn't do anything for me, but that's largely because of the production. I think something along the lines of the "Do the Donk" video would've sufficed if they didn't have a full song, but it's just a little teaser so no harm done.
That's messed up. Especially since you're from Rochester, so I have to assume you would've invited me?
Did everyone stop hating Will Yip? I never really knew why but I remember seeing everyone get sad when they saw him as producer on something
I heard an interview recently where Max explained the lack of singing on the last record. He said he saw himself as a kind of Larry David type character and so wanted to express himself that way. Shouting rather than singing, rough rather than smooth production style I guess. But with the new album, he said he's over that (maybe because it's supposed to be from someone else's perspective, if I'm remembering the concept right) and there will be more singing. That intention coupled with the fact that Will Yip is producing it gives me a pretty optimistic feeling about the next album.
Come to think of it I do remember him saying in a tweet that he was writing Curb Your Enthusiasm esque songs with "darker" SA mixed in. I guess it kinda makes sense, but not really. Meaning IDTIS doesn't really sound like that.
Yeah, not hearing that...at all. It's an odd comparison, but I guess us artists sometimes make abstract comparisons like that.
I think it's toward the end of this one. Say Anything | Max Bemis on Collaborations and Struggles with Bi-Polar Disorder [LIVE May 5th at Concord Music Hall]
Idk I feel like I get exactly what he means, and I really hope the next record being more polished is not just in reaction to all the criticism that IDTI got. I really like that record.
