I got through about 3 seconds of the lyrics being played. Genuinely repulsive. Finally reached from Say Anything being my all time favorite band ever and IARB being listened to almost daily to I can't even open up a Max Bemis song anymore. Feel like I need to physically spit this out.
Thoughts that actually happened: "Yes, let's make a song with these lyrics" "This is perfect as a single release to promote the album announcement" "Yes, my husband, I would love to contribute my background vocals to this song"
Yeah that’s bad, but with her singing “I’m going to get myself off” it on has her stamp of approval so I’m not losing sleep over anything, or going back for a relisten either
I just listened and I’m so disappointed in Brian. What the fuck man? That date r**e line is disgusting.
I say this with no judgment, but sometimes mental health issues make you approve of bad things. I speak from personal experience. As others have said, I’m not offended by it, but it is gross as hell and further vindication of dropping the band out of what I listen to. I get why people will still listen to other stuff from them, I’m just not there for Max. This song kind of feels like it should be an off ramp for most fans, but whatever, listening to them doesn’t harm me.
With all this talk, I had to listen to the song myself and good god, you guys are right. This song is embarrassingly terrible. Like, skin-crawling bad
I mean the song sucks lyrically, but to say Sherri only approved of this because of mental health issues seems pretty presumptuous. Maybe I misunderstood what you meant though
Just given some of the rumors, I just don’t know if it’s right to say it’s all good because she sang on the song. I don’t know her current mental health. But the more I hear about Max and their situation, the worse it sounds. I hope the whole family gets the help they need.
To be fair, this version of Eisley has released one song in 8 years, so it's fair to say they basically don't exist either
But hey Stacey is still making great music. The new Sucre album rules and will hit streaming end of the month.
On the contrary, no one should get away with this as an album track, unless that album is being buried deep below the earth's crust.
I still don’t get the “Darren King… Google him” all that does is lead people to learn how sick of a band Mutemath are, and maybe see some cool drum videos?
Shame Max is so lost lyrically cause musically and vocally (Sherri's parts that aren't singing actual lyrics) were cool. But that will be the only minute of play that song gets from me
That’s what always cracked me up. It’s not like it reveals anything sinister about him. It just shows he’s a cool guy that kicks ass at drums. Like thanks, Max?
