I knew something was up with that mfer when he spent the first 10 minutes of the STD set literally walking around tage waving inscence while his band just blared guitar feedback. Like bro, just shut the fuck up and play Holly Hox instead of trying to be Phish. (I'd be nicer if Conley wasn't an ass)
Listening to self-titled and I honestly think this record is really great and maybe the peak of Max’s sound and songwriting, which makes the lo-fi direction even more disappointing. This thing is pristinely produced.
Just popping in to say that 17 Coked Up And Speeding is one of the best Say Anything songs of all time. I never got into the rest of IDTII much, but that song still gets a lot of repeated songs from me.
I Don’t Think It Is has some clunkers, sure, but it’s still one of the better SA records and painfully overlooked.
I've been thinking about revisiting it because its been a while. But I don't know how much my opinion would change It's hard to listen to SA a bit for me with everything going on. Plus my Cameo from Max was so lame and it was like 110 bucks so I was a little offended lol
Musically I LOVE Admit It Again By that I mean the arrangement, instrumentation, vocal melodies, and Max's vocal performance Some of the lyrics are cringey, but it's still one of my favorites
IDTII > Hebrews > SA > IARB > Defense for me the noise rock lofi thing came right when I was into that heavily which made it click in my brain
