I think that album has all of his worst songs on it haha. Doubt I'd make it through a single one these days, genuinely one of the worst records I've ever listened to.
Man, I love IDTII. I guess I just thought it was a breath of fresh air, hahaha. I'd listen to that over Oliver which is just straight boring.
My biggest let down from Max is the 2nd Perma album and Two Tongues Two. I don't hate any of the say anything albums, if I had to choose least favorite I'd probably says IDTII
I haven't liked anything Max has done since he "broke up" SA. I didn't even know the Perma album came out.
kinda feel like SA will be back within a few years tbh I just never really bought the break up so much, especially when you're the one choosing who you play in a band with
In a live stream on Instagram, Max admitted he only did it because he was in a heavy manic episode and I'm sure he's confirmed the band will be back at some point. I just hope he'll avoid crowd funding since his Kickstarter has been a minor debacle.
That manic episode also explains that bizarre, rambling "manifesto" he released prior to the album release.
I really liked that second Perma album. Turn Now, See in particular is easily my favourite Perma song.
Absolutely. I love Max. I think he's a bit misguided when it comes to fans and their money, but a good dude at his core and his music changed my life.
Echoing that the second Perma album is actually really good, although it's def not for everyone. I wonder if we'll ever get the solo EP he's been working on. "Hard Heart" gets stuck in my head, lyrics be damned.
this scene and music community have a looooooong way to go when it comes to how we treat and talk about people who are mentally ill
I don't know a single song off Hebrews, couldn't stand it at the time and have never gone back IDTII at least had "Rum", which was clunky in a way but at least experimented in a different direction and was catchy as hell. Strangely enough Rum was the song he pitched to Kanye, I think it could've worked well as more of a hip-hop track
I also hated Hebrews. Recently went back to it and it's got some good points too it. Still not their best work
I forgot about that. Shits wild. I saw STD twice as opening acts for other and they kinda became this like...jam band. It wasn't great but they technically sounded good
The problem is that STD could be great and their lyrics were always nice because of how real Chris was with his depression and everything, but their music was never consistent enough in the later years. But now knowing a lot about his ego and what a misogynistic, dominating, and abusive prick he is ruins all of their catalog.
