I'm re-writing this cus I don't like the tone of my last post, but yea I don't think there's much to those reddit posts. They seem very evidently to be manic ramblings from someone who was in a terrible place.

 

Listening to Two Tongues LP1 right now, and god damn am I having a total nostalgia trip. It’s been forever since I heard it. This album fucks

 

Song Shop Double LP came out today. As one might expect with 20 songs written based on prompts, it's a mixed bag, but there's a good EP of stuff to enjoy here.

"Worth More" and "As We Grow Old" are a good back-to-back pair.

I got an email with a link to mine. I thought the first couple songs were absolute dogshit but I should probably give the whole thing a chance

..."double LP" is a pretty generous descriptor for like 40 minutes of music tho

When the song started I thought we were in the clear but the vocals kick in and Max is up to his lo-fi antics again.

I do like the song though.

 

Yeah this lo-fi shit is extremely old at this point, just makes his recent output such a chore to listen to

 

I didn't hate it but it's not instantly likeable to me like the first album. The live video stuff they played sounded really good though so I still have hope for the rest.

 

God the mix is terrible.

 

I like it. I'd also rather the lo-fi go, but it doesn't ruin the song for me here, and I like the call back to "all this time" from the last Perma album.

Agreed. That's a rough listen. I had to stop because it hurt my ears.

 

To be fair Oliver had way better production than his last album, and TT2.

sorry but the lo-fi shit just strikes me as laziness, like if he calls it lo-fi he doesnt have to do shit about mixing. none of it has any purpose.

 

ah yes, great point. Which kinda makes this even more frustrating haha
