This actually makes a lot of sense. He should have said that instead of it being a continuation of the character from IARB.
The new Perma song Max and Sherri played during their Kickstarter livestream RULED. Definitely one of the better songs I’ve heard from Perma. I hope they do more livestreams like that. It was really fun, and I enjoyed just seeing them be goofy and adorable together, haha.
I've never been able to get into ModernBaseball/Front Bottoms. It just reminds me of The Mountain Goats but nowhere as near as interesting. Oh well. To each their own.
Finalllllllly listening to this now. Can’t believe it’s the last time I press play on a Say Anything record :(
Your play button broke? You don't have their older records? Max becoming too much for you? Thanks for coming, tip your waitresses.
I feel like he'll release stuff under Say Anything again eventually, he's made it seem more like it's an extended break a few times. But who knows it could be the last.
Also, I didn’t realize this was the final SA album...I missed that announcement. What’s the story behind that?
Meh, why not? Haven’t truly enjoyed an album by them since the self titled but I’ve given every last one a shot. The last one was particularly horrible but I’ll still try this out.
Oh my friend, you have an entire manifesto you missed out on... eisley.com/SA/SAY_ANYTHING––A_GOODBYE_SUMMATION.pdf
After feeling weird about the concept of OA and the mostly-acoustic singles I have to say that this exceeds my expectations on first listen. Max sounds so good but still raw and the guitar work is back to what I first loved about the band.
i don’t like much of this at all, honestly Your Father is my fav followed by Daze and Pink Snot. i put zero stock in what Max says about thematical ties or that IARB was a character piece the whole time or whatever, he has reached Tom Delonge levels of generating false expectations and revising history to better a hype cycle. part of this is being soured by his twitter vomit over the last few months, but it also just a genuinely disappointing record to me.
Touche. I sometimes think so too, but he also has the song on here that talks about fake hiatuses, so idk, I feel like it'll be a while at least, and we're more likely to see tour dates than a new album first.
Hmmmm ok. I do remember them saying the s/t was a more collaborative effort. Though did Alex play bass on any other albums? I can’t remember.
