But again, that's your opinion on the matter. I agree, I think that those products, services, rewards and whatever are bad products. But they are GREAT rewards to plenty other people
but the person throwing $150 bucks knows what they’re getting and are still throwing that money down.
I supported it just because I want new Perma not for any of the rewards. At least people who don't donate still get to enjoy the albums instead of them then selling them afterward to people who didn't support
I don't have any problems with it, but it just seems erratic and an attempt to take advantage of fame. Kids artwork? Like really? But if you want to buy it, then by all means. I have no issue with the family making money, there are plenty of people who make it in worse and more predatory ways.
I mean I’m this horrible capitalist society yeah people with a platform have to turn to things like Kickstarter and Patreon to make a living. It’s not ideal but it is what it is
I got the Sherri/Max music obsessive package or whatever, and honestly I probably won't listen to those albums a ton, especially since it'll be extra work cus it won't be on streaming, but it was worth it to me because they intrigue me enough that I want to hear them, and I want to support Sherri and Max because I believe in them and I do believe they are good people and I want to see them succeed. That's the point of a Kickstarter - it comes down to whether you believe in the vision of what you donate to. If you don't that's fine, then you don't have to pledge, but as long as everything is transparent then there is literally no harm at all in it. As far as "exploiting their kids" like some people are saying I mean come on it's pretty much them making doodles with their mom that's not exactly child labor.
Watching the live stream. Pretty cool to hear them playing these songs, I really liked the Perma songs. The solo tour he did with Sherri and Merriment I think was one of the coolest I went to and I think the only time they did them live really as far as I know
I'm glad I tuned in. I started after Little Light and Let's Start a Band and this is a short summary if anyone is interested: -New Perma song (Started with "all this time" melody from baseball but better. It sounded like a good song and I'm excited to hear the recorded verision) -They discussed the trouble between them during Max's mental breakdown (their words). Sherri joked that Max is lucky she's still here, so they directly addressed that there have been real issues between them recently. -They played Cemetery, A Song For the Birds (Sherri really has an incredible voice), and Torch Song -Lucy came in and joined them (Coraline declined their invite at first but eventually showed up) and they ended with Two Of A Crime and it was adorable.
You mean the part that literally says it’s on the condition of their mood that day? As in, if the girls do not want to do it Sherri and Max are not going to make them.
I wouldn’t say it’s exploitative to sell your kids drawings, just really tacky. The thought process behind it is even more so.
That live stream was fucking awesome. The songs sounded great, their banter in between songs was adorable and insightful, and I just generally loved everything about it. If there was a weekly Max and Sherri podcast with songs and conversation, I would be a fan. Man, I didn’t even plan to listen, but included glad I did.
Just to be clear I didn’t say earlier any of this was exploitative of their children - though it’s still kinda weird - I meant it is exploitative of their fans. It’s asking for, IMO decent coin, in exchange for the barest of effort on their part. Listen, I just hope the people who buy these rewards are truly satisfied with their purchases and they get exactly what they expect.
You’re donating to help them record free albums, and in donating you get a reward. I really don’t see it as just “buying a reward.”
