They were weird but cool. They looked like hip mormons. It finally seemed like the band was developing some sort of cohesive aesthetic, which dropped off as the band members did unfortunately. I will probably never get the chance to see Say Anything given that I live in buttfuck Saskatchewan. Which makes it even stranger that I once met Max in a coffee shop in Regina.
Was/is anyone a part of playsa.net - Portal ? That was great to try and learn Max's guitar work, which is pretty damn fun to play. Chia-Like is a jam! Even Admit It, playing that acoustic is great.
Well I'll preface this with IDOTG definitely has way more misses. But for me, Most Beautiful Plague, Chia-like, and Obligatory Song come to mind. Though I'm finding with Say Anything, sometimes you just gotta hear the right song at the right time. Young, Dumb, and Sting just really sunk in for me today haha.
2 of those are on Was A Real Boy, if I'm being picky hahaha. The sorta "B-Sides" to Is A Real Boy. I do agree that it has to be right song, right time.
Re-listening to the S/T for the first time in a while. Still don't like Do Better, was hoping that would've changed but nope. Do really like the bridge tho.
yeah idk, just really doesn't do it for me. that said, the only real duds on S/T for me are that and Property.
Haha fair--I'm semi-new to the whole discography and it's listed as one album on Apple Music, so I'm deflecting the blame for this one!
I've known for years that they are different but I'm like you and the first time I ever listened to it, it was all together, so I always consider it as one big 20 song album.
Yeah I remember listening to it then thinking it was awesome but it wasnt until the release that I bought it with the 2nd disc of WARB
Fed to death, cemetery, she won’t follow you, Mara and me, and ahhh men are the sole reasons I put self titled above IARB. most all of those songs are better than everything on IARB
Self-titled is the easiest Say Anything album to digest, the only one I can listen to from start to finish.
