He’s… exhausting. I’m sure he’d agree but jeez, there’s always something around the corner to remind us of that
Am I wrong to say he just sounds like someone on a lot of prescription medications, particularly amphetamines? His brain and ego are on overdrive. I don't know what Max would be like if he fully detoxed, slowed down his life, and became sober. Or is that either impossible at this point, or the way his brain works he HAS TO be on medications to function no matter where or how he lived? Creatively, he seems more attracted to making noisy chaotic dissonant hardcore influenced music than making anything with clean sounding melodies and structure. The music seems to be a reflection of where his head is at.
I don’t feel comfortable speculating about his mental health. Was more referring to his specific mix of “look at me!” self-deprecating musings, tacked on pop culture references and edgy innuendos (with the subtlety of a teen making dick jokes)… it’s on full display here and that has only aged worse as time went on. Or it simply repels me more because it seems so peak millennial cringe for me now.
i think without medication he's probably worse. i remember reading in AP magazine years ago that he was the type of dude to try to fight strangers on the street and after reading that his behaviour just makes sense to me.
It's the Kanye mix of mental illness, years of drug abuse, narcissism, and attention-seeking behavior, I think. Not to mention the spiraling after losing a codependent relationship.
Used a VPN out of curiosity to listen to the newest single… Do not even give it a second of your time it’s atrocious, not exaggerating might be one of the worst things I’ve ever listened to, and this is coming from someone who considered myself a die hard
Didn’t Brian Fallon write a song called 21 Days because that’s how long it takes to break a habit/bad relationship? This is max giving us a chance. Kinda thoughtful.
I would have had a hard time following the song without the video There are a few creative ideas on this but it's such a cacophony. I don’t see how the band can pull off performing this live. Also, other than Max, did anyone else from the band record on this?
Yeah…this is garbage. Not unexpected of course. Expected the vaping between every fucking line. I haven’t liked a Say Anything album since the self-titled in 2009 when he still tried to write melodies. I’m good on them. I really wanna see Motion City Soundtrack on their upcoming tour but having Say Anything a part of the package is such a bummer.
I'm sorry but that song combined with that... uh... music video... makes me so uncomfortable I couldn't even finish it. If anyone is familiar with the catatonicyouths IG accounts, I feel like it would fit their content
