Hahaha, I didn’t watch it but I saw that on Reddit a few days ago with the title being something like “singer vomits everywhere” and as soon as I scrolled through the comments and saw “that’s Max Bemis from Say Anything” I was like ah yes of course it is
returning to this album for some reason and my thoughts on it mostly stand. the music here is genuinely good but max needs to shut the fuck up. it's somehow become even more uncomfortable with news of the separation
Yeah I can't imagine listening to the lyrics of this again in the first place, but adding new context that they are separating, it's a LOT
Yo, I absolutely can’t believe I actually looked up to this guy (like 15-20 yrs ago) and thought he was so smart with his extensive vocabulary. what a chump.
Sherri just looks generally unwell. I worry about her and I’m happy for her she can hopefully get some peace after Max
Random bump, but I'm looking for a relatively unknown side-project. I don't think Max was part of it but it may have involved Parker or the Turner brothers instead. All I remember is they had a couple songs on myspace that I would play over and over again when I first got into Say Anything back in 2010. Fast forward to a couple years back, and they made their way onto streaming services. I got one of them stuck in my head again and it's driving me mad that I can't recall the name of the project nor the song titles. I'm certain one of them looks like "Something to Believe" or something like that because those words were also part of the hook I recall. It's not JamisonParker for sure but something else edit: not XO either
Do you have more info about it? I can't find anything when looking it up and adding "Say Anything" next to it
nothing to do with say anything. it's one of the dudes from jamison parker i think but i can't find anything online now. i have two songs on my phone but they're not even on apple music.
Holdawn, I looked up all these projects on lastfm and found it though one of their bios: it was called I And The Universe. I was wrong about it ending up on streaming services as it's only available on bandcamp. My scrobbles do show one more song named "what would you say", which seems to be lost media at this point.
Looks like the show this past Saturday was not great with Max apparently saying some questionable/racist things. https://www.reddit.com/r/SayAnything/s/TSSd1QOtjj “7/26 show in Allentown Did anyone else catch Max stating that he’s racist on stage? Then changed lyrics from “I worry about how this album will sell because I believe it will determine the amount of sex I will have in the future” To “I worry about how this album will sell because I believe it will determine the amount of black babies I will have in the future.” Everyone standing around us was like…. Oh? And then the vibe of the crowd changed for a while.” (The above text is just the Reddit post copied and pasted here)
I am so outrageously disappointed in Motion City Soundtrack for touring with him. He's such a sick clown.
Dude genuinely needs help. It's crazy to me that anyone is touring with him, including his own band members.
Yeah, I don't see how the rest of the touring members are staying on the tour. I get that there are potential contracts and such, but Max's mind is gone. He should be... committed (I'll see myself out)
