Honestly I don’t seem to be as bothered by the lyrics as most are, because I can’t fucking understand them, they’re buried behind an even muddier vocal mix than IDTII had The music seems decent and Max is howling away as usual (I realized that I loved this in 2004 and would never be drawn to this vocal style from the start in 2024) - but all in all, I think people are enjoying tearing this down more than they are willing to give it an actual listen All that said, the lyrics I can understand are real bad - not even offensive bad, but “why are you even saying this out loud” bad
3 minutes in and the production is a disaster. Compressed to hell and I can't hardly make out the lyrics from the background noise. Why does Max's voice sound like he's singing through a pillow? Why is the instrumentation so muddy? Why are there so many random noises going on? I knew it would be bad, but wow.
We’re wise to his grift at this point and are reacting accordingly. This album exists solely to make him money and piss people off, and his attempts to sell this as satire are honestly just insulting.
This mix is giving me a fucking headache, damn. Seriously wondering which part is a bigger trainwreck, the production or the lyrics.
Cracking up at the qualifications Brad Wood put in his post about the album. Making sure to clarify that they've "musically" arrived at a nice place on the album is *chefs kiss*. It reads very much like a man who gave up arguing with Max about the lyrics
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy some of this — it is clearly the best album they’ve had since the early days of this band. But my god the lyrics make it clear this is a manic episode happening before our eyes. Very unfortunate for Max, his family, and all his victims.
Honestly feeling a bit impressed that I get the opportunity to live in a world where something this embarrassing, misguided, horrifying, and legacy-destroying gets to exist.
I’m going to give this an honest listen today at some point for real and give my honest thoughts on it without being needlessly mean
