Hah, most definitely and thank you. Was my first tattoo and grew out of it a couple years back,, placement/size n whatnot. But the deciding factor was due to the stories of misconduct
This Was The Scene podcast with Bryan Newman. Lots of history, some talk about the band using LSD when writing Stay What You Are, talk about why Bryan left, and lots of other stuff.
that interview made me revisit the stryder for the first time in 20 years and holy crap that first record sounds like tell all your friends
I’m going to the Saves The Day / Finch / Valencia show in Philly tonight. It’s a replacement show since Bamboozle got cancelled. I’m pretty excited. Saves and Finch are both playing albums that I was obsessed with as a teenager, and Valencia were a local band for me back then. This is gonna be cool.
Cant really get behind that ranking. Through Being Cool is definetly #1, but albums like 9 and Sound The Alarm are ranked higher for me. In Reverie and Stay What You Are tend to be pleasers for many, but both have bored me the past 2 decades. Same for self titled.
9. 9 8. Under The Boards 7. Can’t Slow Down 6. S/T 5. Sound The Alarm 4. Daybreak 3. TBC 2. In reverie 1. Stay What you Are
In Reverie Through Being Cool Stay What you Are Sound The Alarms Under The Boards Daybreak Can’t Slow Down S/T 9
Controversial but….. 1. In Reverie 2. SWYA 3. Sound the Alarm 4. Under the Boards 5. Daybreak 6. Grapefruit 7. TBC 8. 9 9. CSD
Oh man, I haven’t tried to rank these in forever. 1) In Reverie 2) Daybreak 3) Through Being Cool 4) Stay What You Are 5) Sound The Alarm 6) Can’t Slow Down 7) Under The Boards 8) “Grapefruit” 9) 9 Honestly I like each album so much, that this list could be different if I tried again tomorrow.
Ranking the ones I've listened to in full: SWYA TBC In Reverie Grapefruit STA 9 But the top 4 are SO fucking good to me and 9 is the only one I think is just okay.
1. Stay What You Are (best all around) 2. In Reverie (most complex chord structures, trippy, beautiful, if this album was successful I believe they would have continued in this direction) 3. Through Being Cool (classic bangers all the way through) 4. Daybreak (also very complex musically with lots of intense but positive vibes) 5. Can’t Slow Down - (catchy with tons of raw energy) 6. Sound the Alarm (seems like an inorganic overcorrection after In Reverie, but since it’s Chris a lot of the songs are still freakin great) 7. Grapefruit (super poppy but lacks depth… Remember, Lucky Number, and Ring Pop are up there with their best songs in their catalog) 8. Under the Boards (some good songs but has more filler than most saves the day albums) 9. 9 (some parts of 29 are soooo good though)
1. In Reverie 2. Stay What You Are 3. Through Being Cool 4. Self Titled 5. Daybreak 6. Sound The Alarm 7. Under The Boards 8. Can't Slow Down . . . . . 14. 9
