If I had to rank STD's albums, it would probably go thusly: 1. Through Being Cool (this was a formative album for me in terms of my taste in music. It was also the first STD album I ever heard) 2. Stay What You Are 3. Sound the Alarm 4. Ups & Downs (So what, it's not an album? It's my list, sue me) 5. Can't Slow Down 6. In Reverie 7. Under the Boards 8. Saves the Day 9. Daybreak I definitely think Under the Boards is more maligned than it deserves. Also, Daybreak really just did not connect with me the same way the other two trilogy albums did. It truly is the STD album I revisit the least, even less than the self-titled album.
Their self-titled is the best album post In Reverie, for sure. Incredibly solid power-pop. I guess I can do that too: 1. In Reverie 2. Through Being Cool 3. Stay What You Are 4. Saves the Day 5. Sound the Alarm 6. Can't Slow Down 7. Daybreak 8. Under the Boards
1. Stay What You Are 2. Through Being Cool 3. Daybreak 4. Sound The Alarm 5. In Reverie 6. Can't Slow Down 7. Saves The Day 8. Under the Boards
Ugh fine, if we have to do this 1. Stay What You Are 2. In Reverie 3. Sound The Alarm 4. Under The Boards 5. Through Being Cool 6. Daybreak 7. Saves The Day 8. Can't Slow Down
I think y'all will hate me for this so here it goes... 1. In Reverie 2. Under the Boards 3. Saves the Day 4. Sound the Alarm 5. Daybreak 6. Stay What You Are 7. Through Being Cool 8. Can't Slow Down
1.In Reverie 2. Sound the Alarm 3. Through Being Cool 4. Stay What You Are 5. i don't know the rest are meh to me
1. in reverie 2. through being cool 3. stay what you are 4. daybreak 5. under the boards 6. sound the alarm 7. s/t 8. can't slow down
There are songs i like and don't like from each album. For me UtB is one I'm most emotionally attached to, but i think In Reverie objectively has the best musicianship of any of their albums. Daybreak has the best production, but half the songs i love and the other half i just skip over. Can't wait for their next release.
Stay What You Are In Reverie Daybreak Sound The Alarm Through Being Cool Under The Boards Saves The Day Can't Slow Down i love them all except CSD, which still has fucking Jodie i mean come on
I can understand why people are lukewarm on the self-titled. I think the pop songwriting is really strong, in some spots reminiscent of In Reverie peaks, but at other times the hooks can come off too sugary or cloying like in "The Tide of All Times." Overall I still like the album tho
I still think Self Titled has really great songs but I hate his vocals on it so much. Daybreak and S/T are just too much for me in terms of vocals. I still listen tho. 1. Sound The Alarm + In Reverie 2. Stay What You Are 3. Through Being Cool 4. Under The Boards 5. S/T 6. Daybreak I've listened to Can't Slow Down maybe once ever so it feels unfair to add it to the ranking
I think you nailed what I hate about it. The hooks are just so sugary and I can't stand the vocal structure of them, if that makes sense. They just don't flow well at all to me for some reason. But I can understand why people like it. Songs like ring Pop I love but a bunch of the others I just couldn't get into. I think Arun is insanely talented, but they miss Dave IMO. A lot of the concepts/riffs/song ideas have just sounded too similar to me.
Yeah, I definitely could pick out individual songs I like off that album but I just don't think it flows well as a cohesive work. Understandably though as they probably wanted to do something more off the cuff after the trilogy
Well since we're ranking.. 1. Stay What You Are 2. In Reverie 3. Daybreak 4. Sound the Alarm 5. Under the Boards 6. Through Being Cool 7. S/T 8. Can't Slow Down But all are really wonderful.
My ranking is gonna be weird, heads up Stay What You Are S/T Daybreak In Reverie Under the Boards Sound the Alarm Through Being Cool Can't Slow Down
