I feel like Saves the Day is a product of so many member, label, sounds and vocal delivery changes. Just been a lot of variations since Through Being Cool when I first heard them. Some things have been really cool and gets stuck in your head, other just haven’t capture my attention as much. And the music I like from them most isn’t all from one time period, line up or label. It’s spaced out over their run.
I agree with both of these. Let's see... Can't Slow Down: The Choke, Three Miles Down & Jodie Through Being Cool: Shoulder To The Wheel, Holly Hox Forget Me Nots & The Last Lie I Told Stay What You Are: Certain Tragedy, Freakish & Firefly In Reverie: Anywhere With You, Driving In The Dark & Tomorrow Too Late Sound The Alarm: Eulogy, Don't Know Why & Bones Under The Boards: Get Fucked Up, Bye Bye Baby & Kaleidoscope Daybreak: Daybreak, Chameleon & Undress Me Self Titled: In The In Between, Supernova & Stand In The Stars 9: Suzuki, Rosé & 29 I kept it to three each because it would be way too hard to pick just one or two and if I picked more than three it would be chaos haha. 9 was the hardest to pick three because I honestly would only take Rosé and 29, but I do enjoy Suzuki. I just think that's their worst album by far.
25 Eulogy 24. Undress Me 23. Ring Pop 22. Shoulder to the Wheel 21. At Your Funeral 20. Driving in the Dark 19. Deciding 18. All-Star Me 17. Certain Tragedy 16. Bye Bye Baby 15. Hold 14. What Went Wrong 13. All I'm Losing is Me 12. A Drag in D Flat 11. Coconut 10. Cars and Calories 9. Wednesday the 3rd 8. Ups and Downs 7. My Sweet Fracture 6. See You 5. Jessie & My Whetstone 4. Jodie 3. Rocks Tonic Juice Magic 2. Sell My Old Clothes 1. Firefly This was difficult
Ahh, I didn't do any from their EP or b-sides. Ups and Downs and Don't Go Outside probably would have been on mine as well as Hold and Jessie and My Whetstone.
Them playing this with Moneen and Circa Survive is so good and one of my favorite YouTube videos ever.
sometimes you don’t want certain videos on YouTube to ever be taken down in this lifetime, this is one of them
That show was 14 years ago. That makes me so so incredibly sad. And I also wish Moneen was making music. Such an incredible band.
Moneen are so great live and such nice guys. I can see why every band wanted them on tour with them (although their sets were better than the headliners in terms in energy and stage prescience and memorability).
I remember seeing moneen play to MAYBE twenty five people at Warped in Milwaukee in...2006, 2007? They fucking destroyed anyway.
I’ve seen them a bunch of times. Always the best live set of the bands they were playing with (and they played with bands I listened to even more so it’s with great respect I say this). Kenny is so energetic. Jumping off the drum kit breaking ceiling tiles, playing entire songs in the middle of the floor surrounded by fans. I think the fact that they used three vocalists (Hippy did lead on some songs and Erik had parts and backing vocals too) to varying degrees allowed them some freedom to bounce, build energy off each other and play. Saw them play Red Tree a few years ago along with some of their other noteworthy songs, and for as wild and crazy as they look playing, they are technically spot on 100% of the time. I give all the bands who brought them out (and tour mangers) credit for identifying that you want them on tour with your band.
It was either on a podcast or livestream but he said that it allows him to focus more on singing and connecting with the lyrics, but then he misses playing guitar so it seems like this isn’t permanent.
this thread is about moneen now? I have no choice but to affirm that they slay indeed I kind of like chris just singing. it definitely works when they're playing their older stuff.
was listening to this for the first time in a while. It’s Such A Beautiful World feels like it was inspired by Green Day’s GeeK Stink Breath. Suzuki is a really cool short song. So many momentum changes.
Anyone know what happened to the Patreon? Just went to join and it doesn’t seem to be active anymore.
