Sound the Alarm is such a raw, emotional record that I just can’t understand thinking it’s an apology for anything. Like that just makes no sense at all. Also Daybreak is the worst STD record by a lot. One of my biggest music-related disappointments of all time.
This thread is major tox. Saves the day deserve better, in my honest opinion of what the general consensus should be. though I should ask, why would daybreak be hated?
This thread is major tox? Are you new here? This is incredibly civil compared to legitimately all other threads.
Been a fan since Through Being Cool because my older brother owned the record and would blast it. Really started to get into them a bit after Stay What You Are came out when I was in middle school. Outside of Sound The Alarm (an album I adore), I'm not sure they've reached the (very high) highs of TBC-SWYA-IR-STA for me, but that's not really a dig at Saves The Day. Every single album post-STA still has some absolutely stellar songs, even career highlights, that I get hooked on every time.
I got into saves in 2001 but picked up SWYA and TBC at the same time and loved them equally right off the bat
oh heh, I’m old here, but not a frequent poster. I was being a sarcastic Saves mark pretending any negative criticism towards them is an atrocity, hah. Don’t dare pull on the saves the day heart strings.
I honestly wish I still had their in reverie, uh, “c-side” called “songs in the silence” to share with everyone here. My only knowledge of its existence is in an ex’s old lap top, but haven’t spoken to her in 8 years. I had once posted on an old saves the day fan forum that I had two demos from under the boards to share with anyone who wanted them. One day I get a random AIM message from some dude associated with someone who knew the band and asked for the demos in exchange for songs in the silence. All I can recall are the first three chords to the song (in reverie ish chords) and the opening lyrics going “I’ve been walking down this road singing songs in the silence Oooo singing from my eyelids Oooo..” and crap me if the bridge is a hazy memory. Cute song it is. /rant
I know there's a song called "Zebra" and another one called "Sister Sophia" from around the IR days that I've never heard
I remember calling my local radio station to ask what that song was that just played. me: "what was that song that just played? That was so good" dj: "at your funeral by saves the day" me: "save the day?" dj: "saves the day" me: "says the day?" dj: "SAVES" me: ...how am i supposed to remember that? that doesn't even make sense
