the Motion City farewell tour was amazing, it's definitely better to go out with a bang than a whisper
I will always be so grateful to Motion City for going out the way they did. It's the reason I'm ok with them not being around anymore, since I got actual closure. It meant so much to be able to see all those songs the last few times, knowing that I needed to take in every moment. And I will thank the stars until the day I die I was able to be at their final show. Obviously I will always want them to come back, but if they never do, I at least know I got everything from them I could've asked for.
I can't believe how excited I am that they have a new album coming out. Here's hoping I like it. I truly want to.
Can't say I'm liking the song. I've never been a fan of a song that's so obvious about "being on the road" and "touring as a band" nor band self mythology, usually. Ergo, I'm not big on things like Weezer's "Memories" or "Back to the Shack." It's funny, cuz even though I think he's a massive doucher, Midtown's Gabe Saporta did an interview with Absolute Punk way back in the day, probably 2002, around the era of Living Well Is the Best Revenge, where he said something along the lines of "once you start writing sounds about 'the road', 'about touring' you know you've hit the shits, you're bereft other inspiration, cuz hardly anybody can relate to touring with their band." Anyways though, I really do have high hopes for the rest of the album. If the lyrics and the melodies on the rest are better, I think we might be in for a treat. I'm also very, very interested to see what on earth the song "29" is gonna be, seeing as it's over 20 minutes long.
eh i don't really need to relate to something or have the same experiences being described to think something is good. not all the songs gotta be about me
