It's very true, this year has been too overwhelming festival-wise that I don't even look at some of the lineups anymore. It's great there are so many, but it's also very obviously hitting maximum saturation where some festivals are going to fail
Yeah, definitely would appreciate some setlist diversity from bands in this scene, particularly those with a wealth of b sides. I think MewithoutYou is pretty good at varying their sets from tour to tour and even from show to show. Kevin Devine as well, though he's definitely got his staples. Never seen Saves live though, so in their case I'm sure I'd appreciate "the hits" a lot
What about that like...5 hour, 50-something song Saves The Day show a few years back? Unreal. Would have killed to be at that one.
Saves the Day played an amazing free show in Michigan a few years back. Saves the Day Setlist at campus martius, Detroit
It's kind of like one of those things where if you're in your STD bubble it almost feels "overrated" by proxy of it being referred to as "underrated" for so many years. But to casual fans of this music scene, it probably still is underrated.
oh for sure, I don't personally think In Reverie is overrated at all. I could see why someone might think that though. I'd call it properly rated among STD fans as one of their upper echelon LPs
SWYA IR And STA is one of the best if not the best 3 album arc I can think of. Regarding my fav bands of course If anything in the STD discography is underrated it's Daybreak
Not counting the kind of terrible set I saw them do last year, it's been way too long since I've seen this band and that needs to change very soon
I regret not seeing them a few years back on their tour with IIOI. I think I've seen them 3 times though, and every time was great.
I saw them play a pretty bad set a couple years ago also, and this is after like 10+ great sets I've seen over the year
I've only seen them play a "bad" set twice. Last year opening for Coheed: Set was great, but the crowd wasn't into it, the sound sucked, and Chris didn't really talk at all. Then they played an aftershow at a small venue after the 15 year TBC tour. I went to the tour the day before and not the Cleveland date but they announced the aftershow around 11PM and it started at 12 so I drove an hour to the show and Pentimento and Reggie both played 30 mins and STD played for like 25 mins and when they were told they had time for two more they played a 10 minute long cover of Hotel California, so I was not pleased haha
Very good, I'm still regretting not flying out for the festival. Heard a lot of negative thoughts on it beforehand but it looks like it actually turned out to be a good time.
I wish they did something for 'In Reverie'. Anniversary show/tour/re-release (which was originally talked about). Do they not own the rights to that album or something?
